Default Why does the 370z get so much disrespect...

From BRZ and FRS owners? Hello everyone, i am a new member and hope to purchase a 370z very soon. I was also interested in the BRS/FRS but after extensive research i came to the conclusion that the platform was not for me. The BRZ/FRS are great cars from what i have gathered; however, i often hear the following from BRZ/FRS owners:

'the BRZ/FRS has better handling'

'the BRZ/FRS can beat the 370z on the right track'

'the 370z is too heavy'

Now i know that the BRZ/FRS has a strong marketing campaign and that has something to do with the BRZ/FRS being portrayed as some mythical world beater, i also know that some BRZ/FRS owners are a tad bit out of touch with reality but do people here have experience with the BRZ or FRS that can chime in? Most reviews i have seen that praise the BRZ/FRS basically praise how fun of a car it is even when they compare it to different vehicles and often times the BRZ/FRS is somehow favored over many other performance/sports cars because it's "fun".

From what i have gathered, in most tests the 370z has better skid pad performance and at least equal slalom numbers. I know the BRZ/FRS have very sharp and responsive steering and are fun to drive but as a whole that does not seem to make the BRZ or FRS a "better handling" car. Am i wrong or am i missing something such as major 370z flaws?

And yes i know this has been beaten to death and that the FRS head unit looks like it came from a 1988 Pontiac Trans Am. I also know there are some BRZ/FRS owners that claim such silly things as they can break into the 13s by dropping 250lbs off their vehicles which normally run high 14's to mid 15's.

I know there will be some bias towards the 370z but it can't be as bad as the FRS/BRZ fanboys, so what is the consensus?

I am all about well balanced vehicles, handling and straight line performance. The BRZ and FRS handle amazing, but when a new Camry can take me off
the line I'll pass lol the pull is just non existent.
I like an all around fun car, and the Z imo is a blast. Over the BRZ I'd take an S2k any day of the week, handles on rails and def feels faster and more torquey.

I have to disagree I love the z interior the only thing I don't like is the gauge cluster, it is overly complex looking too Much **** going on. Also the arm rests suck awkward location .

Agreed, i'm not a big fan of the 370z's gauge cluster either. I do not like the cover that encloses it. I would prefer a simple more traditional gauge setup something like in a 911 or BMW.

As for the rest of the interior, it is actually quite good, none of those big oversized knobs that you see in some older American cars/brz/frs.

But i admite that as awful as the BRZ/FRS interior is, they still have nicer gauge clusters as compared to the 370z. Just my opinion, your mileage may very.

Easy question.

Like others who bash on the Z, they feel threatened by the car. I can't speak for everyone but the 370 is rare to see in NY compared to the brz/frs whch most likely is due to the price point. Brz/Frs starts off around 25k If I'm not mistaken. I bet the majority of those owners that open their traps about our Z's(meaning the forum guys and other owners of the 370z) have never driven/owned a Z. If they did I highly doubt they would trade it in for a brz/frs.

I personally don't have a problem with the car. I think it's a nice looking RWD, light, agile machine. I just feel that it's lacking power which a turbocharger can fix.

personal taste. Dur.

Drive both. Whichever one gets your blood pumping. Buy it.

BRZ is an awesome looking vehicle.
But.

it has a back seat.

Knocked it off my list of "sport car".

Thus Harry (my beloved Z).

Again. Personal preference. No fan boy crap.

As far as performance goes, take a look at the results from the SCCA Solo national championship in the C street class. The 370z's easily disposed of the Toyobaru's.

I just checked out the results from 2013. I see a lot of 370s doing very well for the C class, in fact a 370z got the fastest time. I'm not sure i seen any BRZ's or FRS's in there though, maybe i'm blind though.

I have researched a lot times of different tracks to compare 370z times to BRZ/FRS times. So far the 370z has comfortably beaten the BRZ/FRS on all the tracks in which both vehicles took part. Then again the 370z should smash any BRZ/FRS in a strait.
