If I had the dinero for a GTR I'd have to look closely at several other super cars.
Interesting tidbit though. I did talk to the salesman about a GTR (not that I was in the market) & was informed that the Nissan dealer in my town (population 100,000+) wasn't qualified to sell them. To be qualified he said they must employ GTR trained mechanics and stock $200k in GTR spare parts. If that's true, car trouble on the road might be a huge PIA even if it's under warranty. |

I am enjoying the responses. Couple things I would like to add:
1) Mike is a cheater. He has THREE DDs and a Z racecar. 2) Nobody said you had to spend ALL $25k on a DD. You could spend $10k of that on a used Sentra and $15k on hookers or racecar parts. Life is good. 3) I'm not in the market for microphones. After a bit more digging, I saw that early GT-Rs employed a "snow" mode on the car. Would any of you who said "yes GT-R" drive it in the snow? Or a typhoon? Tough mudder competition? On a more sincere note, I'm leaning toward the whole 2015 Nismo and finding a way to import a Nismo Pulsar (because Nissan should make it here in the US to battle the WRX/Focus ST/upcoming MS3 trifecta). Turbo hatch for a daily, sick *** sports car for any other time I feel like driving. It's nothing against the GT-R. It's nothing against my driving or money or anything else. It's everything against EVERYONE ELSE in my measly town that would park their rusted out Ford Broncos on top of it at the grocery store, or the Dodge Ram 3500s rolling coal on me on the interstate. I have a feeling it would attract far too much attention. Any NISMO drivers in here? Do you get more attention than a high school twerking competition when you're just trying to make a beer run?

Z and DD or a used 911TT. If you gave me a GTR, I'd sell it and buy something that is fast AND looks good.

As much as it seems you want a GTR you should go ahead and dive in. Live the experience. Then if it is not for you sell it and get something else that fits your lifestyle.
The other option of a '15 Nismo + DD. You already have a 370 it seems and possibly a DD of some sort already. If not you are a DD short. If you do already have a 370 then it is up to you whether you would want to eat the depreciation on trading up for the '15 Nismo. Looks are subjective. No power upgrade. I want the seats is all.

I hate this question as I can not vote. I already had this choice when I bought the Z. The GTR was automatic and the Z was MT. The Z is my DD. I do not want another car when I can fit groceries into the lovely car I have.

Funny conversation. Personally, my buddy and I parked my Nismo Z next to a GTR and asked his wife to point at which one looked cooler and faster...she picked mine. Men get bones over GTRs...women love Nismo 370s..they have lines and class.
I DD an old 4 door ford truck and enjoy the heck out of my nismo. Plus, it feels like a new toy every time I get in it, rather than a daily driver. |

The GT-R is a beast for sure, but it just doesn't look sexy. The reason I take note when i see one is because I know it's a beats not because of its looks. If it was a more normal car, I wouldn't look twice at it if I saw one on the street. When you're spending that much on a car, the looks play a big factor too unless you are purely a track junkie. If the GT-R had sexy sports car looks like the Z, it would be over.

I'll choose a used 370Z (which, I did) as a daily driver and a family car for the rest.
Here's the deal - reasonably, I want fun AND practicality. My wife drives a 2007 Xterra with nearly 100,000 miles and it suits us well. Recently, I switched from a Mustang GT to a 370Z and haven't looked back. The Z is the first car that I've owned that wants to rev. No more dreaded "Mustang hang." The 370Z has given me tons of value with so few negatives. Efficient. Furthermore, making a 370Z badass is black or white. You either max-out bolt-ons, or you choose forced induction. With the Mustang, I felt that I was "chasing the dragon." I think that may be the same if you purchase a GT-R. They're both drugs, but one lets you spend less, all the while satisfied. Sorry I've droned on. Just the opinion from a middle-aged fella. Last edited by Memphis370Z; 10-31-2014 at 12:15 AM. Reason: Grammar |

Bad poll. GTR -- it's all about me. Still care about the kids and I would not mind hauling groceries at this point. As for my wife, she'd rather get me a GTR than do something stupid and ruin the marriage. Both of us are smart.
