How's THIS for a slap in the face.........
Kinda a long read its related...........
I became the proud first-time owner of a 2012 Z a couple of weeks ago. I live in Ontario, Canada near the Detroit border and searched high and low until I found pretty much just the vehicle I was looking for. Ended up being 11 hours away in Quebec. To skip a lot of the fluff............I ended up grabbing a cheap flight and two Wednesdays ago flew to the dealership to check the car out and brought a bank draft with me for the full purchase price. For those not familiar with Canada, in particular Quebec, and in further particulars 'old' Quebec (where the dealership is) the population in general does NOT cater to anything but French speaking people, businesses, etc. Its just a way of life in that area, they don't want anything to do with non-French speaking people. So.........I ended up doing the deal with basically the ONLY English speaking salesperson there. The sales manager and all the mechanics I met when I inspected the car didn't even attempt to speak a single word of English to me. I would think that the sales manager would at least make an attempt seeing as an 'Englishman' was dropping 30K in full to him for the car but nope. Before I signed the paperwork I saw a single keyfob on the salesman's desk so I asked him if the car had a second one. He checked, said 'no but my manager said to get one made when you get home, send us the invoice, and we'll refund the payment back to you'. Stupidly I didn't get that in writing, rather I took his word for it. So............. Got the car home, had a second fob made and sent him the $240.00 invoice as per our agreement. now two weeks later the dealership has NOT reimbursed me, the salesman that I handed a $30,000.00 check to will not respond to my e-mails and will not even answer my phone calls. To top it off I called the dealership and got transferred to a French-only speaking female who had absolutely nothing to do with the sale. The amount isn't what's infuriating me, its how the salesman completely did a 180 after the sale and now not only is welching on an agreed reimbursement he won't even respond to an e-mail? I really wish it weren't an 11 hour drive back or I'd be chatting with him in person. Last edited by RT2012z; 10-24-2014 at 12:31 AM. |

Ces't la vie au Quebec mon ami.
I walked out of restaurant in Montreal, because they refused to give me an English menu. Their damn loss.

I've been to Quebec enough times to know how they treat non-natives but seriously, how in the hell can they justify what they're doing? Completely ignoring a customer who purchased a vehicle from them? Agreement or not and I don't care where I live, I am befuddled at him not even responding to e-mails. Not sure how that flies no matter WHAT dealer he works for.
I contacted Nissan Canada and filed a complaint but don't expect them to pay me for the keyfob, it's the ignoring the situation that really has pissed me off. I really hope someone at that dealership will be accountable for something. |

Generally any Nissan dealer or any major manufacture dealer will send out a customer survey after a sale . If you give them a bad survey it will affect there dealer csi and there csi bonus will suffer from even one bad review . If you don't get one call Nissan and ask for one . I don't think you'll ever get your money but at least you can affect there bonuses . Never leave a dealer without a ( we owe ) chalk it up as a lesson earned . When I bought my z it was 2 years old . I got there it was one the showroom floor and when they pulled it out it had a tire light on . They set the pressure before my test drive but the light stayed on . At this point I noticed it had rubber valve stems ( no sensors ) part of my agreement to buy was a we owe to me . $200 bucks later I had the sensors in and another $45 to program them . I then went back handed them a bill and a we owe 10 mins later left with my check .. Always get it in writing with dealers there all **** bags . Don't feel bad I've learned my lesson the hard way with dealers too . I think everyone does . That's most of the reason I love to haggle with them so much. .. The bastards

I'd say your sol. It was a $240 mistake. Write it off, move on and enjoy your car.

same thing just happened to my best friend... he helped buy his daughter a used, 2013 toyota corolla... car was advertised with having remote keyless entry... they delivered the car with only one plain key (no fob)... when he pushed for the fobs they claimed the car didn't have keyless entry... they took delivery and left... i called toyota corporation with the vin and sure enough, it does have it... he called the dealership back with my findings and they still gave him the runaround until he called the owner... it took lots of pushing and false advertisement accusations but they finally gave him the money for the fobs... i don't get it... they just made $12k and are throwing a fit over a couple hundred bucks... why risk a blow to your reputation over that kind of money... as soon as the check clears, he's gonna slam them on the online reviews and any survey that he might receive... douchebags

haha it was sarcasm. I personally wished they did. I remember we went to subway outside of Quebec city and they refused to speak english to us other than 1 or 2 words. That province is absolutely horrid and costs all the other provinces. Lots (or some, whatever) give Canadians a bad name.

I go to Montreal every year for the F1 race and have never had any problems with the natives. Montreal is a fantastic city, one of my absolute favorites in the world. Of course, we are helping their economy to no end that weekend. As far as the key fob...it happened to me as well here in the States. I bought the car used at a Dodge dealer and said he never got the second key from the original owner. He said he would contact him and send me the key. Yeah, right. After multiple tries I gave up. I really didn't mind so much the cost of the key, but how much my Nissan dealer charged to program it.

Dirt-bomb dealers are so damn money hungry. You live and you learn.
