New Engine at 7,000 Miles
I was driving my Z and all of a sudden the car dies. I heard a propeller like sound in the engine. They TOW is to the dealer and the dealer tells me that the PISTON broke off and this all at only 7,000 miles. So they end up replacing the engine with a new one. Now i got the car back and it has a shift delay, so it basically jerks from 1st gear to 2nd gear. Now i have to take it back to the dealer, The car is not the same anymore.
Is this a Lemon? What do i do? Thanks!!! |

Have them bleed the clutch master & slave cylinder. I don't think you've got a "lemon". I think it's just bad luck.

Trade it in for a new one or sell it privately. As you said...the car is not the same anymore. I certainly would not want to own a brand-new car which had its motor replaced this early in its life.

Sounds more like bad luck to me more than anything, but just to be safe make sure you break-in EVERYTHING properly (engine, brakes, transmission).
There's no problem with getting a new engine, so don't worry about that. I've heard other members complain about the 1-2 shift so take it back to the dealership and have them bleed it, or in your case since you've has a blown engine you might be able to convince them to replace the whole assembly. After that, try to relax. It's normal to be paranoid after having a bad experience but if you are then EVERY little thing you may or may not hear puts doubts in your head and then the car is no longer fun. Best of luck! |

If the engine change was done right by qualified mechanics you shouldn't see any difference in the car. They obviously screwed something up. If the flywheel is new and the clutch is old that would give you a screwed up feel, they need to give you a new clutch as well because the old clutch had already conformed to the old flywheel.
