Yeah, I was kinda shocked mine was a bit low as well, but remember, dyno's are just a base number, take them for what its worth, I only care about how much power I'm making from each mod I do. And thanks for the subscription, I plan to update at least once a week.

with just hks bolt-ons (suction, bov, hi-power and turbo outlet) it was already pulling 290 whp and 260 tq (on the same dyno I used to rate my Z). With tuning it's now up to 310 whp and 270 tq. too bad I'm letting go of it cause I love driving my Z. I'll re-dyno my Z again in the future and see if my bolt-ons will make a difference. I doubt it will make 15 whp more tho and tuning seems to be more complicated than just ecuflash. |

for some odd reason, the test pipes are either even or slightly less in the power making department. There are a few guys with full bolt ons, headers, intake, exhaust, hfc's making about 320-335whp, depending on the dyno, up from 275-285, that's pretty damn good I'd say! I think the average CAI, HFC, CBE combination nets about 30whp, not bad.

My main concern is sound too and 5zigen (along with Stillen) is the best sounding IMO. I'm willing to sacrifice some whp for that awesome sound. So definitely, HKS exhaust is crossed out of the list even if it could give me more power. Also, I kinda want to keep my japanese car with jdm parts (no offense to american part makers, just a preference). besides, it's waaay easier and faster to ship japanese parts to where I'm from. Any info on the whp gains on japanese exhausts would be appreciated I'm rambling... I'll read more on the best full exhaust mods. thanks Last edited by Baddriver; 10-20-2009 at 02:24 PM. |

search and you shall find, I'm too lazy, if mind serves me correctly, they made 13whp and threw a CEL, which for warranty purposes, is a no/go! Easy way to find out? do a dyno page yourself!

Mine are already installed with no before and after dyno.. 150 miles or so later no CEL
I just searched and found nothing but conflicting information. You would have to see 5-10 dynos from people swapping test pipes to hfc's on the same car and same day to justify this. Ecu needs to learn changes so a simple task as a pedal reset and a hard test drive can make a difference. From my knowledge and experience I will say it's my opinion thAt test pipes are going to make more power. Just my .02 .. If someone has a link to specific threads that go over this help me out because I just found two. One that said tp make more and the other from ddm saying how they gained 20 whp from hfc. Berk test pipe dyno I can not find. The test pipe that tested at 12 whp was a different brand , granted it's the same design / idea but I can not fond enough information to warrant coming to the conclusion that hfc make more power than test pipes on the vq37hr. I know you made 16 with hfc but who's to say the berk test pipes wouldn't do the same or better with your reset and driving. The company who tested the test popes at 12 was a install/dyno right after test according to what they said . How did you reset your computer ? That alone could of freed up power. Coming from an 03 g35 if I did a pedal reset on the dyno there were times it would pull 4-5 more on the very next run.. So many things can mess with dyno results. I certiably felt am increase in power with the test pipes tho .

A baseline dyno is a good idea. Guess I'll be calling some shops and get a real Nismo Z baseline for everyone. Hope it's at least a little higher than a regular one
