2015 370z Nismo vs 1970 240z

The reviews is watery but commentary from Nissan product specialist on next gen Z.

Watch Z vs Z: 1970 Datsun 240Z vs 2015 Nissan 370Z Nismo Mashup Quick Spin Review | The Fast Lane Car Episodes | Sports & Cars Videos | Blip

Product specialist restated the Z direct benchmark is the PORSCHE CAYMAN. And the Z has always tried to benchmark Porsche. Us true Z enthusiasts understand that already. No FR-S competing Z. Lol. :inoutroflpuke: So no corvette or mustang competitor in the next gen. So all those angry about that can upgrade to a muscle car without worry of Nissan secretly adding a v8.

Enjoy the vid guys!!!:driving:

Nissan has benchmarked the Cayman S since the inception of the 370. I get tired of folks comparing our cars to muscle cars. Of course it's not as fast in a straight line as a muscle car. Who cares?? That's not why we buy this car. I'm not saying I wouldn't like my car to be a little faster, but faster compared to what? Comparing straight line performance against a V8 muscle car is just dumb. Our cars will match a Cayman S in straight line performance and 90% of their performance on a track at about 50% of the cost. Which is exactly what Nissan was aiming for.

Funny... I don't think the reviewer knew a thing about the Z(s).
Kinda hard to watch without wanting to slap both of them for various reasons. lol ;)

Wish I could land a job doing that kinda thing.

Actually it's 100% of the performance and 50% of the refinement. The Z can tie, lose or beat a Cayman on track. It's a driver's race..

Even the 350 was benchmarked against the 911 base.

I agree that my 240Z is probably more "fun to drive" like he concluded, but otherwise, there's really not much comparison to my 370Z.

I like them both for what they are.

Yezzirrr... The Auto is an option, not standard.

I would have asked the Nissan product specialist if the next Z would come with seat belt extensions lol

I gotta say, the 240Z, 40+ years old or not, is still a stunning looking car!

I would agree. Just a few blocks from me there is what appears to be a mint condition 1971 240z for sale. It's white with a perfect black interior. I'm not sure if it's been used on a track or not but it has really wide tires on it front and rear as well as bright red tow hooks.

I just watched video:
It sounds like the new Z could be another year or two away. Not 2016. Maybe this guy is just not the insider I thought he was so maybe it will be 2016 after all.

That's about as insider as it gets. Nissan is always super secretive. Remember with the 370z. We first saw it in June 2008. Nissan had false panels on it so it looked like a smaller version of the 350z with more aggressive roof rake.. Turned out all the lines on the Z were changed as well as the Z actual rear window shape. We didn't see what the 370 actually looked like till October, then z suddenly went on sale in December. The 370 went on sale 7 months early than originally stated. That's why all this release time is hard to predict with Nissan.

They historically send confusing signals for brand new designs/redesigns.
