Yes, it was a CVT (YUK!!), but when you changed into sport or manual mode it shifted like a normal automatic. So when I used the paddles it was very similar to the Z, but like i said, much "more gentle".

I've driven the 7AT in the Z, and honestly I couldn't tell much difference from a dual clutch system. I also had an Audi TTS, and the shifting between the two was not that different.

This is why I enjoy my Z so much.
I use the paddles almost every day, it almost seems I have 500hp...lol

are you referring to my post or are you referring to the rough 1-2 6MT owners experience?

my gearing is very short. i'd have to keep the throttle extremely steady and rev it out a bit in 1st to hit second smoothly, or just use drive. it's not rough when redlining it

6MT it's a different story.

Stiff clutch on the 370? Drive a Mustang once, or grow a pair of balls, and then re-assess your definition of "stiff."

Does not compute? So what you are saying is the tranny has two sets of 7 gears with different ratios?
Last time I checked trannys don't change grear ratios when shifted from auto to manual shift mode.

No... There's that algorithm input feature in auto mode. If your daily input is smooth easy acceleration in gears 1 & 2. The ecu will send smooth transmission shifts in auto mode. In manual mode, that algorithm feature is not in effect. Your throttle input is everything and the ecu is waiting for you to manually change the gears without the algorithm interference.

Now. I talk about 1-4 gearing because the auto's launch gear is 1 power gears are 2-3-4. 5 is the drive gear and 6-7 are overdrives. 2-3-4 are aggressive feeling. 5 6 7 aren't

There is some jerkiness in the first couple gears in the auto manual mode. but I think it gives the car personality. That's just me though.

Wanna hear a little joke on me? Well, earlier today a person in front was speeding up slowing down and drifting all over the place. I was driving at approx 45mph in a 50mph zone when I got overly excited and double pressed ( I assume ) the down shift paddle into second gear ( again I assume ) with a view to pass him. The car hit the rev limiter three times until I realized what I was doing ZOMG! Meaning it cut power three times as it bounced the tach needle. I duly then upshifted and finished my passing moneaver.

Do you 7AT owners let go of the throttle when you shift?

When do you shift up on normal daily driving? 3k?

I'm guessing MT and AT owners will be shifting at different points because of the extra gears in the 7at?

I shift in the same exact rpm's I would in the manual. Again, 6 and 7 are overdrives.
