07 is250 paddle shifters were 'cool' at first but then the shifts were delayed which really annoyed me.

the 14 is350 paddle shifters are a little more low profile, has a better tactile feedback and also the shifts are dramatically quicker.

I think technology has come a long way in the past few years for the automatics. That said I still have a hunch that MT will be phased out from the majority of manufacturer's over the next decade.
i think i would use the left paddle to downshift, but most of my up shifts will be done via shift lever/knob.

Daily driving i use the actual shifter.

track, drag strip, backroads - i use the paddles for the control of both hands on the wheel.

Lol the reason I was hesitant to get into a 370z was the manual transmission felt heavy and clunky. I know some people say its "raw " or whatever but for an entry level sports car and daily driver that would get annoying . The first to second shifting has to be perfect.. Nissan should stick to automatics because I hear the same issue with 4.0vq frontier drivers. They love the automatic tranny hate the manual. You can actually feel the torque in the auto with the 370z also.

kamzee- you're socal, get the AT and carve those canyons. if you want to learn how to drive MT, just get another car for that. no need to try to learn the art on the Z. the Z's MT isn't really clunky but it is more for an advanced MT driver.

with that i am in total agreement. can't say the same for the Z... how does the paddles feel? I notice with a lot of paddles they feel uhh sloppy....

I know with the is250 if you use the paddles it'll cause the shifter to not shift and vice versa for a split second. you can pop the paddle twice for a double down shift or double up shift or whatever (i usually like to smash to cruising speed then shift up to an over drive) but can't do like double shift 1 gear on padal and 1 on the shifter... then again I'm giving you the benefit of doubt you aren't an amateur who's shifting and won't upshift just to downshift... and haven't tried that on the 350 yet. babying it as it's only about 3000km and dont want to be too rough on it.

turned off my SRM to practice again and let me say holy crap I am terrible. I didnt bother practice downshifting since my upshifting has been sloppy. It went back on after a few rought shifts for the sake of my neck and my tranny and clutch....

these are the exact paddles from the GT-R so the feel is great and the look is good.

when you hit one the gear changes are very quick with no delay.

i have thoroughly tested the hell out of mine. trust me.

my car has never been placed in just "D". it's always in manual mode and i shift every gear up and down. well except 2nd to 1st. thats a no no in the 7AT Z. you let the car do that one.

i've never lost a race to a 6MT and dont plan on it lol

they are large paddles as stated before so even when on the dragon and running hard they are easy to find and make the gear changes.

Yea the 2-1 shift I don't even do unless in a parking lot or similiar circumstance and I'm in a Mt with srm.

Good to know they use the same shifters as the gtr

6 speed rocks. Driving an automatic Z It's like riding an automatic Harley Davidson. (if existed) (and if you know about motorcycles) ruins the fun out of everything.

Nissan could have avoided all of this if they just did what Honda did with the S2000.
