oh and I would pass on that wash/wax... Do it yourself... I would question the quality of their wash clothes and their technique. Atleastif you do it, you only blame yourself for swirls/mars. Also you can chose the shampoo / wax. I use megiaur's gold wash shapoo and the gold wax. Lots of info in the detailing section and on the interwebs. I did that with the left console guage console thingie the it rolled over on my trip... I was like why you do this to me!!! |

IDK if they really help or not. I do know that my magnetic oil plug has little filings on it every time I change the oil. Not many and they are very fine. They look kinda like oil sludge but they are ferrous beings they're stuck to the end of the magnet and they're hard to get off.

I stayed under 4K rpms until 1200 miles and then went to the drag strip. I change the oil with Mobil 1 5w30 and a Nissan filter every 3750 miles.

So a FilterMag and/or oil pan drain plug magnet might or might not help you, but it sure can't hurt.

Still plenty of ferrous metal parts in the engine. They do wear and the itty bitty particles of ferrous metal would seem to me to be abrasive. The question for me is the capability of the filter to filter that stuff out. Assuming a Pure 1 oil filter, 99.9% of 20 micron particles are captured. 20 microns is slightly larger than the width of a human hair. Small, but do you want that, at the power downstroke between crank pin and the rod bearing? True, it is minimal but, for 50 bucks, why not?
