A little optimistic aren't we? And once again... not to be a GM fan boy, but there are several bolt on/tuned C7's that have hit high 10's already. Go check out there fast list on the Vette forum. A bolt on/cammed and tuned C6 Z06 makes over 500whp so saying a boosted Z is a "Vette killer".... hmm, I don't know about that... maybe a "stock Vette killer"...

If I were to ever get a Vette, It would have to be something a little rare... Z06, or even ZR1. The C7 Z06 is only supposed to be around 78K. Way out of my price range but maybe in a few years.

and yes the Z06 starts at 76K but add in the Z07 package with a few much wanted/needed toys and you're looking around 85-95K range. i mean all that power and speed why not get the carbon ceramic brakes

And yes, it is Auto There are a couple 9 sec passes from some other C7's but they were bolt on/ cammed and NOS. I'll go to the Vette forum and post their times.

For some reason, the vette forum doesn't have a sticky on their C7 fast list so I'm not going to scroll through 50 pages. However, the C6 Z06 (which has about 40 more bhp than a base C7) has gotten into the 10's bone stock with just DR's. A bolt on C7 is just as fast.

i would get the auto as well.

sidenote what the hell is the gearing in the vette?! he finished the pass in what i could hear was only 3rd gear? or pardon my non-knowledge of the vette tranny, but maybe started in 2nd if possible?

i heard shift to 2nd and shift to 3rd then crossed the line.

Certainly agree here. Sold a crammed, full bolt on C6 Z06 before I bought the Nismo. It was my third +500rwhp car in a row, and I just got a little tired of having power I really didn't use on the street. They are great cars, super bang for the buck, but I just wanted something you don't see everyday. I've said it here before. I think the 370 handles damn near as well, and the stock power levels, while never gonna beat even a stock C5 or newer, are great for the street.

At the end of the track day how many Corvette guys will brag about passing a six cylinder 370Z? None. The Z on the other hand is the underdog in the fight. If it wins or does as well then which car was the better purchase?

Im not hating on the vettes by any means but yea the average joe out there racing them are not running those times in a stock or slightly modded one. You are going to the Z06 and the ZR1 class which we all know are monsters and the Z couldn't keep up so please. Those two are in the GTR class chief. My point was simple. You do not need a lot of mod money to be competitive with the Vette. The Z has a damn V6 in it for Christs sake.

for the record if he's worried about keeping up with them he will be fine.

strip run the other day i hung with a couple year old viper.

reason being one of my favorite sayings.....

power isnt everything when you dont know how to use it and the car cant put it to the ground.

havent raced a new vette yet but i have taken down camaro SS, mustang 5.0, challenger/charger srt8's, C6 vettes, etc...

took out a older supercharged mustang the other weekend too. almost forgot that lol

Not really. What he described will get you around 12.7 second quarters in a Z if tuned properly and on the right tires.

A well F.I.'d Z will run the low 11.

agreed. my best is 12.89 on street tires with intake/exhaust and a tune. with DR's maybe a 12.5-12.7

plus a nice drive mod with me in the drivers seat

u guys must race at the track every weekend cause my bonestock Z is plenty fast for street.

i dont see why i would need a faster car unless for bragging rights at cars and coffee or something. and i dont do cars and coffee so who im going to brag to? my neighbor's cat?
