Not sure how taxes work for others here, but in my state of Virginia, we have to pay a yearly property tax for cars. The minimum amount is 4% of the car's value (based off KBB) -- some cities add an extra 0.1 to 0.3 for skimming revenue. There's a relief of sorts which lowers the tax, but it's a complicated calculation based off your income, the car's value, it's gas demand, etc. Needless to say, what I make and the C7 won't get a tax break... so basically I'd pay at least $3000 a year on taxes just owning it. So that's a major reason why I stay under the $50K line. I could own a GT-R or six figure monster, but I'm literally throwing away money because of the vehicle property tax. I just can't get myself to do that. |

What really irks people is how the roads around Hampton Roads are in poor condition and/or suffering traffic to repair them. On top of that, we've got one of the worst rush hour tunnel systems on the east coast (HRBT). There's always rumors or negotiations to build a third tunnel or expand the HRBT, but something always derails it. Usually money. We pay a lot of taxes for the road system, but I tend to wonder where it all goes. We should have smooth gold plated highways at the amount they drain from us. I suppose it's not all bad though... our gas tax is low. Lots of people from NC on the border get their tanks filled in VA. |

The rate is $6 per MHP over, plus an extra $60 processing fee. Cops like to set up traps where the speed limit changes from 45 to 35 for a 1 mile stretch because of area housing or an arching bridge/road. That's an easy $120 ticket for anyone not paying attention (and much more for those going faster). We also have those traffic cams that take pictures of cars running red lights or make a right turn without coming to a full stop. I think that's a $45 fine (haven't got one of those yet). I understand that running reds is bad, but there's evidence the cameras don't stop accident rates because of it increases the number of rear enders when people slam the breaks to stop on a sudden yellow. |

I'm drooling over the 2015 AMG GT-S. It probably won't be ZO7 fast, but it's such a quality luxurious vehicle and perfectly crafted. The 503hp 4.4litre bi-turbo v8 is nothing to sneeze at.
I'm also sitting tight for the R-36 GT-R. Owning Godzilla has always been a dream. Finally, there's the Porsche 911 GT-3 and rumors of a GT-3RS Turbo? All these cars are the objects of my affection. :-). Itsvgoing to be hard picking one over the other! That's why if the next gen Z is good. My life is simplified. I personally dont think there's a better car under $45,000. I'd just mod the hell out of it. Looking forward to better torque numbers in the next gen Z. That's what the Z34 needed more of. If it was rated at 332hp/312lbs tq. The VQ37VHR would have been perfect.

You can get to hat trq level with bolt-ons though. 312 trq with 15% drivetrain loss is 265 wtrq which is about what I have with bolt-ons.

And this is why I'm a strong proponent of going FI.

If work keeps going well, FI gets their kit CARB approved and the next Z is underwhelming, maybe I will go boost as well, maybe....

I agree the Z already have a solid base and threshhold. If I start craving more speed and probably will eventually I'll just keep the Z and go FI. There's too much going on the with C7 and I have a feeling that the new Z will be underwhelming.
