So far I've heard of the airbag issue, the parking brake cables not seated properly,a few other little minor things and a few engine problems (like on the C&D test vehicle). It seems like people are really exaggerating all these recalls and stuff. Like I said, I'm on that forum daily, and of course I do see some issues, but nothing like you guys make it out to be.

One good thing about GM though, at least they acknowledge issues and recall them... so far every engine failure thread I've seen, GM has fixed under warranty... even if the engine blew up on the track. Look at all the issues we have, CSC failures, paint defects, oil burning issues, and lets not forget how long it took Nissan to do a recall on the steering locks.

I'm not on Corvette Forums. I'm on the specific Stingray Forum. ;)

Stingray Corvette TSB/Recalls

Again minor/moderate issues but not going to get one until it's all fixed. Again I'm not out to bag the Vette, I still want one since I'm still itching for another drive since Road America. :)

I won't consider the C7 till 2017 model year. I am strongly considering the vette Z06 in the future though. I'm often thinking of making the ultimate sacrifice and going into the $100,000-$150,000 market?? I've never been there as an owner, always stayed under $50,000. But I'm looking for an extremely raw experience. I will only do this if the Z is a FAIL as well?
I've driven cars in the upmarket range. Maybe it may be kewl to own one now? But it's a lot of cash to give up on one ride. We'll see?

I am Ford man, always was, j/k talking non-sense here ... all kidding aside, the Z is an awesome car and the next Z will be great as well as the one after. I don't think there is anything near that for the money.

I have to say, I absolutely hate Nissan dealerships, they are garbage, they are stupid, and they are ignorant, from sales to service, all to me is garbage. I wish the Z was sold as an Infiniti, the difference between the two is huge. Bottom line is I absolutely love the car and I guess I will sacrifice the stupid crap I don't like just to keep driving my Z, it's a bad a-s-s car any way you look at it.

Now if I were spending well over $50-60-70-80k I would be getting a Porsche 911 S, hands down the best car. In fact, my next car will hopefully be a Porsche 997S, put a good warranty and call it a day. Porsches do not depreciate much if at all, try trading in your 1-year old Vette and see what they give you.

for 70k just give me an Alfa romeo 4C and leave me be :)

Zoren 370 10-08-2014 12:14 AM

^ I like that too...but for its price I would probably stick with the Z.

Love the 4c but 10k more and your in supercar territory in speed with the 2015 z06 and get a manual to boot :)

:iagree:

Dcocci 10-08-2014 12:53 AM

That's ok. The z06 is beyond impressive, however I'd still be happy in my 4C. I'd respectfully decline the 10k z06 option:tiphat:

I love corvettes but chevy already issued two seperate recalls against the C7. Too much money being spent just to turn back in to the dealership imo.

i'm right there with you. the Z has been my most expensive car purchase to date since i got it basically brand new sortly after release with 1200 or 1500 miles cant remember.

but yes if the next gen Z falls through or they massively fail with the re-design i'll end up going the C7 route. i priced out a Z06 and the rough estimate for me was 95K with 2LT pack, Z07 pack, Nav upgrade, etc... obviously i'm not able to that now based on purchasing a house very soon but in 2 years that 95k just went to 75k and i'm cool with that lol plus the dealer license helps out with getting very nice deals at auctions :tiphat:

One thing to also consider is what other car can you get carbon ceramic disc brakes for under 100 grand? even the new m3/4 have the option but its well over the price of the Z06 and Z28... Chevy does have that catagory covered pretty good. My first autox instructor had them on his 2011 Z06 and they took the wind out of you.

I'm with you brother! Not dinging the vette, it definitely wins the bang for buck performance, but I'm just not a fan. For $70k and some change I'll pick up an Evora S 6MT. I'm really wanting one to replace the Z, been looking at a few pre-owned ones recently.
