I got a flyer from State Farm for my wife's Sentra offering a discount if she signed up. The catch is that she has to link her car with software so it can report her driving habits to them. Of course nothing was offered to me with my Z. I wonder why?
Yea the black box is not limited to planes anymore.

Personally, I refuse to use them, even with a huge discount. It will probably take more than a new law to make me put one in any vehicle I own.

I would have bought a C6 Z06 if it didn't have ground clearance issues.
The Z scrapes some where I drive. Corvettes have long noses and are lower, so no way it would work. |

I like the way the new c7 looks. It's definitely a sexy car but I'd turbocharge the Z and blow right by it.
Only other car I would consider at the moment would be an STI because so many obv. reasons.

Straight line speed for sure. But what about everything else? It might be able to keep ahead of a Vette on a road course, but after 3 laps you'll either go into limp mode due to oil temps, fuel starvation, ice mode, csc failure, hmmm.. did I miss anything... oh, or your steering lock with go out before you even get on the track, lol.

Corvettes have never been appealing to me. Definitely wins the bang for the buck performance factor though. The new c7 really caught my eye when I first saw it, but they are popping up everywhere lately in my area. By next year it'll be around every corner like the c6. That's not a bad thing but I think that makes it feel less 'special'. It's all preference. I personally have no desire to own one.

Thought about a new Nismo but after really looking at what it had to offer for the $ with really no advance in performance I ordered my first ever Corvette 2015 Z51 pkg. The C7 is simply amazing to look at and drive. The interior looks like it should be in a high end European super car. The new 8 speed auto shifts amazingly fast ( milliseconds) 0-60 in 3.7 sec. Top speed 180+. Heading to Bowling Green for museum delivery when ready. Hopefully in 1 month. Loved my 370z back in 09 but this car is whole new level of performance. I will post up some pics when she arrives.

Depends....I test drove the Stingray at Road America and absolutely fell in love with it! so.........Since I get a decent GM discount through work on the new Stingray. I just need the base without all the heavy junk. MSRP for me is $49K.
Great deal right? Went on forums and the Sting Ray has/had 21 recalls. ![]() Passed and keeping the Z. |

![]() I was very interested in this car, but the way I want it configured would cost me over $60k out the door (basically the cost of my last two cars). I just can't justify spending that kind of money for a car that I may be driving back and forth to the dealer often. I believe GM will work out most of the kinks in their halo car, but it will take them a couple more years to do so. I know the C7 is a much faster and nicer interior car, but to date my Z has 10k miles on the odometer in 26 months of ownership. Absolutely 0 trips to the dealer. Prior to that, 60k miles and 8+ years of owning a G35 Coupe, only 2 recalls. Brake pads and rotor replaced for free after 15k miles, due to grabby brakes. And greasing of the door locks due to it being sticky. So for $60k+ & 21 recalls, I'll also wait on the C7. |

One good thing about GM though, at least they acknowledge issues and recall them... so far every engine failure thread I've seen, GM has fixed under warranty... even if the engine blew up on the track. Look at all the issues we have, CSC failures, paint defects, oil burning issues, and lets not forget how long it took Nissan to do a recall on the steering locks.

![]() Stingray Corvette TSB/Recalls Again minor/moderate issues but not going to get one until it's all fixed. Again I'm not out to bag the Vette, I still want one since I'm still itching for another drive since Road America. ![]() Last edited by damian_mb; 10-07-2014 at 01:06 PM. |

I find it hilarious that 370z owners who are turboed think their car is somehow better because it can keep up with a stock c7 or barely pass one. The corvette is another league of performance. Hell even a new 5.0 mustang is a better platform for performance. I've driven the fast intentions twin turbo kit by the way and from my opinion and a few others the 350z/g35 is a better turbo option for putting power down properly.
