I finally did it!
After a few yrs of waiting I finally bought a 2014 370 zed😁
I have a friend who deals in whole sale cars (used or auctioned vehicle). I took a chance of going this route. The only thing wrong as I can tell is the bumper is missing. Its a Nissan dealership that were auctioning a bunch of cars. My buddy said it was a theft recovery and in the report said that there is no damage to the car. Hes also a mechanic so when he goes to pick it up hopefully what the dealership said is true that there is no physical damage . Don't know why Nissan decided to salvaged it. It seems clean and has 12k miles on it. But I'm a little worried that it might b worse than I think (but I hope not). So, I'll need to find a new bumper for it. I'm also looking to purchase an air intake. Can you guys recommend one. I've heard some brands here and there but I don't know which one is good. But I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg as well. I was also thinking about making it able to take E85 fuel. My buddy said it would cost about 1k to do it. Has anyone done this to their Z's? Is it worth it? If not why? If anything else u guys or gals want to chime in plz do. |
Congrats! I'm sure more experienced members can help you with your questions.
|
Plus one on the congrats. Why would you want to use E85 fuel?
|
Congratulations! Im sorry cant help with the E85 fuel. But why would you be willing to find out how to do that....for 1k grand?
But you don't want to loose an arm and leg for a good quality air intakes? Used is somewhere like $350 to $400 such as a stillen gen 3 intake. Doest make sense to me? |
Here is the first thread that came up for e85, I didnt read it though.

replace the front bumper with the 2015 nismo front... wait nevermind that's what i want to do =(
|
hmmm... I'm not sure I'd buy a car with a salvaged title. But it's your car not mine. Good luck and welcome.
|
Congrats on the car. Have your buddy check everything twice since the car was stolen and was most likely driven ridiculously hard by a moron for who knows how long.

FYI, a theft recovery may result in a salvaged title if the car was recovered after the insurance carrier paid for the loss. If depends on the carrier and the state. Hence, theft recovery vehicles can be good deals. Regardless, good luck with your purchase.
|
did you at least look at some pics of the car? and do you mind if I ask the price you paid for the car?
|
Don't know if I'd roll the dice on a vehicle with a salvage title, but then again I'm not much of a gambler. I hope that it all works out for you and you end up with a great car at a great price!
|
My car was a reconstructed title and its a beast but it was a side impact that caused the damage so nothing up front was replaced....to my knowledge
|
Well he's on his way to pick it up so I'll make sure he checks it. He said its still under warrenty. Not sure if its true or not cause its a theft recovery.
U r right its expensive to have it coverted to take e85 and not wanting to spend a whole lot on an intake. I didn't mean I want to go cheap but I guess I figured that I could get more HP using e85 due to the fact of the higher octane rating. I believe my buddy said that he has an arm intake. Not sure on what type but I've heard of that brand b4 |
You'll pick up more power with a tune, but unless there are tons of e85 pumps near you, I don't know if its worth it...
Best and cheapest intake solution = smooth tubes + K&N (or similar high flow) panel filter. Best and cheapest exhaust solution = Nismo H-pipe "take off". Best and cheapest cat replacement = ebay test pipes (if you can stand the rasp) or any set with resonators if you cant; next best would be HFC's, preferably resonated. |
I live in nor Kali and we do have e85 filling stations.
On curious how much HP gain u would get by doing this conversion Quote:
|
Prolly not enough to justify going to e85 without going forced induction honestly, even on my 5.0 mustang it was just changing injectors and tune for about $250 and it wasn't worth the maybe 5whp and drastic loss in mpg. I went from 20mpg to 14mpg by switching, and if u have the vin I can check to see if it has a salvage title I work for nissan
|
Damn u lost 6mpg. Wow.
Im not fully committed until what people say on here. I don't have the Vin yet Quote:

I was wondering how would u know if the Z has sports package for the 2014 model?
Is it by the rims and having syncro rev match? Or can u get an option of not having the sport package but get the 19 rays wheels and the red brake calipers? From the pics I saw it seems to have the sport package because the the 19 rays wheels and the red calipers. Also how can u tell if its a base +sport or touring + sport for the 2014 model? |
What r the differences between the 2012, 13 and 14 model yrs?
I assume just cosmetic differences. |
13 and 14 have the drl lights on them pretty much the only difference cosmetically and the diff rim shape although they are basically the same rim, and its interior trim options like leather/suede, nav, u can get base+sports package so cloth seats and 19"rims and red calipers
|
I finally did it!
The 2014 has LED's on the front bumper. If the synchro rev button is there then it has the sport package.

It sounds like you should have done some more research about the car, and years, in general before you made your purchase. Just my opinion of course.
Hope it all works out in your favor. :tiphat: |
It was an auction and there was so much info when I bought it yesterday.
The auction was going on within an hr. Plus it was a 2014 model. And yes it was an impulse buy LOL. But my buddy said that if for what ever reason I didn't want it he would buy it off of me. I was surprised of what he said. Plus he was looking into buying one as well. But I'm being hopeful Quote:
|
I also read that the touring has heated seats, auto head lights(I assume the head lights turn automatically when it gets dark).
And it said it revised the steering wheel? Is it the shape or something? Also is limited slip dif standard? Quote:
|
U can tell if its a touring by the heated seats leather seats sat n antenna on the roof

I'm curious to know about the E85 question as well. It doesn't take a full tank of E85 to reap the benefits of the increased octane rating. With as little of a 25% E85 content in a regular fillup provides an imense benefit in tunability and knock count reduction. I'm not sure if any tuners have played with that option (partial tank of E85), but I'm not sure of the benefits on an NA motor. My previous experience was with a Mazdaspeed 3, and the amount of timing you could add because of the "E-blend" was pretty amazing.
So if anyone with knowledge of tuning these motors, or any NA motor for that matter, is an increase of a few degrees of timing a big power increase for us? |
I'll have to c if there is sat n'tenna.

I assume the sat nav antenna comes with car if you get the navi package. But if u don't have the navi package then I assume it doesn't come with the car. Or does it come with the sat nav antenna whether u have the nav package or not.

the biggest difference from 12-13 was the front fascia changing. fangs to no fangs. no led to drl led's.
*fxied* the 12 have dark grey callipers and the 13+ have the red callipers on sports packages. |

What if it doesn't come with one?
I have pics of a 2014 model and I don't c one Quote:
|
What r the difference between the 2013 vs 2014?
I have a pic of a 2014 model but it doesn't have the sat nav antenna but it does seem to have the sport package. It does have the 19" rims with the red brake calipers Quote:
