Default revving in neutral w 6 spd

Anyone notice that when in neutral the engine only lets you rev to about 5k? if you are in gear but the clutch is depressed, it lets you go to the redline.

Exhaust sound with a load on the engine >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> no load

I'm perfectly fine with the 5k neutral limit, never thought to look for one.....

I agree! Just never have seen a limit when in neutral on any car before other than the redline

The manual states that there is a no-load rev limit of 4500. "When racing the engine up to 4,500 rpm or more under no load condition, the engine will enter the fuel cut mode."

They don't want you to blow the engine under no load revving.(regardless whether or not its even possible) They're covering themselves.

M3 does it regardless of being in/out of gear. It bases it on speed. I want to say it's 5mph & under it limits to 6k rpm. So if you are coasting to a stop light you can totally be a bad arse, boy racer, coolest kid in school, and rev the tar out of it.
