Road debris must have caused the damage. Sh!t happens and there's nothing you can do about it......unless you put clear bra on.

-Get a fine sand paper and grind the rough edges to get it flush with the bumper
-Apply touch up paint
-Let it dry and apply more paint until it fills up the crevasse
-Sand the entire painted area to get it smooth and flush with the bumper
-Polish

The result can be quite impressive if you do it correctly. People won't notice it unless they squat and directly look at the damaged area within 3 feet.

And consider yourself lucky. If that road debris hit your fender or the hood, the damage will be A LOT more prominent and harder to fix.

I'd invest in a clear bra ASAP if your bumper is still in good condition. My bumper lost its chance. It's freckled to **** by rock chips and road debris. I'm getting amuse front later down to line.

I think I'll give this a shot and then maybe also look at the carbon 4D overlay! Thanks for the great advice.. worst case I tear up the bumper and buy a new one, but I would certainly like to avoid that outcome.

yah, or try it and if you dont like it, try the overlay. and if you still hate it, take it to a body shop for repair.

the issue with the touchup is you have to let it dry for at least 2wks before you can wet sand it. otherwise it can still be tacky and stick to the sandpaper more than getting sanded down. not sure how much time you have left before putting your car away.

I'm really glad you just said two weeks.. I would have likely waited 2 days and then been very pissed when I realized how tacky it still was.

yep, the more layers you put on, the longer you need to wait.

i fixed a dent/chip on my G's hood last year and i waited 3wks before wet sanding. turned out great.
in my case i had to push out the dent using my pdr tools.

Oh I hear ya, but damn can't even get a few thousand miles on the car and someone or something smacks the bumper... just seems wrong. My DD is a 2000 with almost no dings on it and I park it everywhere. Just doesn't make a darn bit of sense.
