Default 2010 Nismo w/ GTM Turbo Kit

So I could use a little help from anyone. I have my car listed for sale in the classifieds section. The car looks and runs great. People are constantly taking pictures and asking me about the car. I have it listed on CL (not my favorite place), cars.com and autotrader. I have received plenty of views, but no replies. I'm asking about $14K over a stock comparable Nismo. This is about 1/2 of what the car has in it. Any ideas?? I realize if I lower the price to $10.00 I can sell it, but really does no one see any value in the work that has been done? I need to sell the car so that I can start my next project.
Thanks for any ideas

Mods do not add value to the price of the car.
You are always better off parting it out and returning to stock. You either are going to eat most of the price of mods or find that one in a million buyer who likes the exact same details on a car as you.
Trips, onzedge, jaedub and 8 others like this.

+1. Never mod a car that you plan to sell.

I agree. Part out as much as you can, and then sale the car for BB value. Highly modded cars are always tricky to sale. I posted my Nismo on CL for 2k under Nada value for excellent condition, sold it in 5 days.

I agree with the others. I also feel your pain, as I've been trying to sell my mostly stock 2012 Nismo (FI exhaust, Swift, K&N,etc), with limited success. A few offers, but nothing I'm willing to part with her over. It's a niche car to begin with, and your mods make it that much harder to find a buyer.

Have patience and you eventually will. Your selling price will be whatever your willing to get down too. I think .50cents on the dollar for mods is pretty close to reality in most cases.

You know on that show Pawnstars. I remember one episode, where Rick was looking at this custom Ford hotrod that was totally clean and had a 400+hp new Chevy small block...Anyways, the owner poured $100,000+ into it, but Rick ended up taking it off his hands for $60kish. The owner had grips on reality, because he knew it was difficult to ask what he poured into it. He was just trying to mitigate his losses.

It's cliché but when you do these kinds of things, it's considered a "labor of love" and you will not recover the money put into it. Ditto for houses too....I digress.

Thanks for the input. I think I will have the shop give me an estimate to pull the motor and return it to stock

A lot of folks will pass over a very nicely built and maintained car because it has an aftermarket SC or TT. I think they figure it's been driven hard. I must admit that I look for stock cars when I'm looking for a used vehicle. I just bought me son a used Honda civic and it was hard to find one that didn't have a really cheap CAI on it. I agree... turn it back to stock and sell your parts on the forum. Stuff sells pretty well here.

I wonder how much he re-sold it for.

Ssfirehawk took a big hit when he traded I his GTM twin sc car for a nismo. There is only a very small % of people who want something like that and it's hard to get a price that make sense for the price they paid for it all. I know I wold take a huge loss if I traded mine in now. I almost sold it a week ago then I looked at the numbers and i would take a big loss because aftermarket parts decrease the value. This is why cars are not an investment at all.

Enjoy it while you have it, then suck it up when you get reamed when it is time to part ways.

This is why I never heavily mod any car worth major value. Imagine when it is time to sell your 100k gtr with 60k of mods on it....for 70k, if very lucky.....yeah...never!

The z is an amazing platform, cherish it my friend!

Lol but you have almost $25k in parts/labor alone on your Z... That's pretty heavily modified if you ask me

One day, I too will have to pay the piper. In no way have I excluded myself from this fact!

I can tell you one thing, it won't be any time soon

What more and more people think about moderate-heavily modded cars:

Why would I buy someone elses headache?
