Can i rev in Neutral then throw into Drive?
i used to do it in my old car, a 00 honda accord and wasnt sure if i could or should do it in my Z
neutral drops can kill transmissions... especially your torque converter AT's.
Try Reving it in Neutral and then put in Rev, back up, Give it more gas then Drive a little and watch what happens! You wont like it at all!
ill take it as a no. i didnt care about the honda since it has 80k on the engine but how should i get a good launch out of an auto?
from a stand still tap your accelerator to see where the threshold of your torque converter is.
then left foot brake, add throttle (build RPM to that threshold), and let off brake, mash gas. that's how you launch AT's. :) dont hold the throttle too long as your torque converter will heat up. |
thanks kenchan! so baiscally powerbrake when the car is at the ideal rpm. sounds good ill give it a try tomorow.
.... hope you dont do that on public roads though.
ughhh.......
Of course you can rev your car in N then drop her into D, just like you can jump off a cliff, I mean no one will stop you, but both will do serious damage ;)

Sometimes I wish that this car started $10K higher just to weed out a few more buyers. |

I'm not so sure. I think this thread would be facepalm worthy regardless of what the title is.
