Pulling like a MF...

Ok, I've had the Z since March. It's my weekend / project car (see current mods). As a matter of fact, I loaned the car to my cuz for a few weeks shortly after I installed the FI exhaust. So, when I got the Z back, I did the Drop-in filter mod... easy-peasy. I didn't feel any noticeable difference in the butt dyno. So, during the Labor Day weekend, I did the DRL mod. I disconnected the battery to do this mod. I completed the DRL mod with no problems and re-connected the battery. [side story] I also found the source of an occasional vibration while I doing the DRL mod. I found a 3/8" x 6" extension in between the battery and fire wall. I obviously missed it when I installed the PPE LTH [end side story]. Anyway, the ecu must have learned /adjusted to the mods because the Z is pulling like a mother******!!! There used to be a noticeable 'dead spot' in HP in first gear...pre-mod. Now, it's all but gone. I'm seriously concerning the post-maf tubes as my next mod.

Think I remember reading about the DRL mod, but find nothing when I search for it. Any help? Love to improve that dead spot in the throttle response right off idle....or are you talking about daytime running lights? I have K&N drop in's, and cat back FI exhaust, and it didn't do a damn thing form that damn throttle dead spot.

So your point is that we should disconnect the battery in order to reset the ECU?

Yeah, daytime running lights (DRL). Nissan added the LED DRLs on the 2013+ models.

My biggest noticeable gain came from the PPE LTH then FI exhaust. The drop-ins seems to address the 'dead spot' issue at take-off.

Yes. When I had my Audi, I installed a CAI. The instructions in the kit specified the procedure on how to 'learn' the ECU to the change in air flow. I know I would probably get more gains with a tune and I might get Z1 to do it next year.

I only have a FI exhaust. I did not think I needed to do anything. I though the ECU just adjusts by itself.

The car should adjust over time. I guess disconnecting the battery may make it learn a little faster. But it doesn't matter much.

Ok, this car is INSANE!!

I was playing around with the Z...wanted to get it close to redline. So I'm in 2nd gear, going straight, winding it out. I shift to 3rd and the rear end steps out... Whoa!! I didn't expect that. I had to let off to straighten her up. Can't wait till I get a tune to make more ponies. Seriously thinking about tracking this car next year.

Probably just due to the colder temps.
