Anyone running Stillen Headers and HFC?

Own a G37 and want to put on Stillen Headers along with HFC. Stillen was recommending against it due to heat and running lean. Anyone on the forum running headers and HFC?

I don't see the point into all the time and hassle of installing nice free flowing headers, only to get chocked up by HFC's. Test pipes or nothing. If you're absolutely set on HFCs, I would just stick with the stock headers.

And have you looked at the Z1 headers?

I had the stillen headers with berk cat.
now I have replaced the cats with motordyne art pipes.

I have the stillen headers with stillen test pipes and I love them but if I had it to do over I would have gone with resonated pipes. they are definitely raspy. but just so you know the install of the headers cost 400$ more than the headers themselves. it cost me 600$ for the headers and a thousand for the install so 1600$ for about 10hp at the wheel. it was worth it for me but that's a personal decision most people would not have done that.

Have any of you had issues with heat or CELs? Did any of you have a tune afterwards? How about the Fast Intentions Long Tube Headers instead of headers and Motordyne Resonated Test Pipe?

Rumor is there are better headers power-wise than stillen.

That may be true but I decided to stick with the same brand for all mods. I like it that way. So I know who to blame if something goes wrong hehehe.

LTH's won't allow you to run test pipes. They just run straight to exhaust hence the reason they are long and not shorties.

The stock headers aren't bad or even intake manifold.

It's nismo but it still applies to normal Z. Usually hitting google with X vs Y will get what your looking for e.g. HFC vs TP or LTH vs HFC etc...

Ok so I reached out to Fast Intentions regarding the long tube headers and their FI CBE. They say they have never done a fitment with the LTH and the CBE. SO have aanyone on this forum done the FI for the FTH and CBE?

What!?! You sure that you reached out to the right people? Of course they have done a combo of FI LTH and FI CBE. I couldn't tell you member names, but I know that in the LTH install manual, it specifically says that FI only guarantees fitment with their CBE and no others. It would be silly of them to make that statement if they have never combined the two pieces. They are a good product and should work with any known good exhaust though. I have a few different brands cobbling my exhaust together, including the FI LTH and everything fits perfectly.

What headers are you running? I am thinking DC Sports - Ceramic Coating the 304 Stainless, then motordyne Resonated test pipes and then FI CBE with the resonated test pipes to keep the exhaust somewhat quiet.

Good luck on fitment, and hope and pray they don't crack. I would go with some of the proven brands out there like Fast Intentions or Z1. Stay away from DC Sports, Megan Racing, OBX, and all the other Ebay brands.

Op.."Huck" who is one of the forum members up on here is running F.I. LTH and CBE...His Z sounds beastly with the setup. he could give you first hand information.

gomer_110 09-10-2014 01:03 PM

I have F.I.'s long tubes and non-res cbe on my Nismo. Never had an issue with heat even during AutoX events. Now that I have an oil cooler I don't even bother opening the hood in between runs.

mariosg37 09-11-2014 04:35 PM

Is the exhaust too loud? I am thinking LTH and then the 18" resonated. So you dont think I need to worry about the heat and also did you get a tune?
