Coarse engine? Easy fix. Just pay $30k more and you can have that smooth Cayman S. I'll take the coarse engine.

My brother bought a 1st year Cayman S when it came out and it is an amazing, sexy car. He paid more than double what I paid for the Z, but I doubt he enjoys his twice as much as I enjoy driving mine.

For those of us not willing or able to spend $70k for a two-seat sports car, choosing the Z makes a few compromises but not where it matters most. If the driver in the video was spending his own money and on a budget, I wonder which car he would choose.

You guys gotta understand, he's reviewing from a perspective, that you can afford whatever.

He gave it plenty of praise - complaining about the motor being coarse is merely an aesthetics thing, but he's 100% on with his statement, none the less.

You shouldn't have to purchase a Cayman to have a smooth engine. If you have driven older variants of the VQ or Nissan engines, you would know price isn't the issue here. I have an ancient Q45 with the Vh45 with over 150k miles and it's perfectly smooth as the day it rolled off the showroom..

It's just the one thing everyone knows could be better on an otherwise advanced engine in a great car.

I don't think it needs to be twice as expensive to get rid of this coarseness. It's certainly better than the DE, that just felt like it was going to grenade toward redline... Now that the VQ revs so high it would be nice to have it smooth, it would certainly shut up all the whiners, what would they complain about then?? They would really have to nitpick..

Most of these reviewers will have a few spirited runs in the car, while the owners will get to enjoy them every day. The owners can accept the coarseness on an otherwise near perfect car, considering the price, virtually flawless... While the reviewers never have the chance to have that experience..

It's been an ongoing issue of contention since the original 350z and has been improved on, I hope with the next version it is eliminated

It sure looks right at home driving around the track, much better then any school bus I've ever seen.
He got some good oversteer at about 2:15 you can see he had to really crank the wheel over. I'm surprised he didn't mention anything about Syncro Rev.

I actually enjoyed his review, I thought like edmonds he was going to butcher the car. However he didn't, I don't think this cars engine noise is anything close to what my celica was... ha, it was a great car but noisy.

I love the Z it's a great car... people are becoming to picky. No need to spend extra 35k for an opinionated "refined driving experiance"

Am I being dumb or did they tape a bmw emblem over the steering wheel?
