It also gives you an illumination warning when a moving object is in your blind spot.
does it also drive itself?

I'd get 2013+

Refreshed, quieter, comes with an OK oil cooler and back up camera.

Rode in an 09TouringZ recently with less than 10k miles on the odometer and was pleasantly surprised that my 13 sport z, had a more composed and quieter ride. Personally I like the 13+ bumper better, but that's an individual preference.

Lighter weight vs features. A personal preference.

Lol

Personal preference. To me it is. Road noise was one of the main reasons I sold my 09 Sport. It started to get annoyed when I daily drove 30 miles each way, everyday.

You could tell me to look at the G37. I did own one before the Z. They feel and drive very different.

The 2015's have a-lot faster gears for both models, & the NISMO's finally receive the auto in the U.S, smoother spoiler, faster gears, stripped steering wheel, day-lights, & colored stitching. Definitely the 2015's, by a-long shot! Its suspension has already been revised multiple times for track use.

I think it is a pretty sad statement that these are the things that have been changed. Seriously...what is the real difference between an 09 and 15?

OP, I think all the years are solid cars. I will continue to encourage people to buy used and mod it until it fits you like a glove. That's one of the great things about Zs. Just find a model that has what you -must- have and mod in to the rest like suspension.

And for the record...the 40th is by far the best 370Z by a-long shot.

Get which ever one is comfortably within your budget and a good fit for you.

Then if you find things you want to change - mod it.

Imo the differences among the model years are minor.
