Dude check this out, the dealer just called me. He said three different service technicians drove the car, and for 5th gear you cannot go all the way right and up. You have to find a smooth gate from 4th to 5th.
I was like listen, I am not trying to be a **** but I've been driving stick for years on and off the track. I have had the car two years, and never a problem with the stick and 5th gear. I bring it to you guys, and now it won't enter 5th. So he tells me I can take a service technician out for a drive so I am heading there in a bit. Like come on man lol for two years I have been entering 5th and 6th gear differently? |

I wouldn't put it past them to have installed the reverse lockout plate incorrectly...

Just got the car back. Everything is great but there is a slight difference getting into 5th and 6th gear. You can't go all the way right, then up or down. 5th and 6th gear are about 2cm further to the left now, very close to 3rd and 4th. The first few shifts till I got the hang of it, I actually hit 3rd gear coming from 4th by accident when trying to catch 5th. That close lol. The manager at the service department told me it's because of the new parts and everything has been replaced, even though it def wasn't like that before. Not really a big issue, just different and I have to get used to it especially during spirited driving. Anyone experience this before?

They used OEM replacement parts, right? Should be exactly the same as before IMO.

Mine did the same thing after the dealer installed my z1 kit. I think the tech adjusted the gates. The gates were adjusted all the way to the left causing the shifter to get stuck out of going into 5th. The tech did a 10 min adjustment and fixed the issue.

Same thing happened on my buddy's 2007 350z after a csc replacement.
It seems the gate has shifted and going into 5th & 6th requires some finesse. Make them fix it. |

What morons, they know it's wrong but don't want to work on it again so they convince you that black is white and off is on.....I have no respect/trust for stealerships, if I never have a car worked on at one again, it'll be too soon.
No, I'm not bitter, and I've never been ripped off by service....CAUSE I DON'T USE STEALERSHIPS....unless it's warranty and I guess I'd have no choice if it were a 1200.00 CSC replacement. I feel for you Shawa. I think it's a metal plate that guides the stick shift that has to be adjusted. 'cause the gears didn't move in the tranny, just the position of the stick moving the gears together was changed by the shift plate being out of alignment. |

OP, as for the change in shift pattern, mine was like that, I had them readjust it and back to normal, unfortunately I've had my CSC and MCS done a few times now. They have forgotten to adjust my reverse look out and shift gate both... If you go HD clutch, get the HD CSC, the stock one wont last long with a HD clutch. |
