slower and slower cranking up times

New battery (within 8 months) 30,000 miles, Supercharged, and battery gauge reads 14.2. I've begun to notice that when turning on my Z it cranks a little longer than usual. It normally cranks three ish times and starts right up, but this morning it cranked about 6 times and then started. Anyone have any similar problems or suggestions?

It it turning over slower that usual? If so, check all the electrical connections between the battery and starter (the big wires). You may have a corrosion problem that is getting worse.

If cranking speed hasn't changed, look for an engine/control problem. My first guess would be an intake air leak.

Edit: Could be a bad battery. Most auto parts stores will check them for free.

yes its considerably slower cranking times in this past week. I'll take it to an auto shop for a battery test.

I would bet that the connections have loosened some. Since it is a new battery there is every possibility that when it was put in, they didn’t tighten correctly. Common problem. Clean up the cable ends and the battery terminals and tighten it up.

yah, definitely unplug the terminals (ground first, then red), clean it, then plug it back with either contact or switch grease.

also check fluid level. could be that the store sold you a bad one.
