I meant the general 'you'. I looked it up hoping that the news had changed from a sub-200hp econobox. It hasn't.

Firebase is dead on. The Z is all about affordability and the 300zx was priced out of the No. Am. market when the Yen was stronger than the dollar. Nissan learned its lesson and it's one of the reasons the Z's improvements between subsequent production models have been modest -- cost. If the new stock Z is over $40K, it will fail. It's also the same story as the Supra. Toyota tried to reinvent it as a higher end sports car and it failed miserably. People just weren't going to pay top dollar for a Toyota, despite its performance. If the new Supra is over $60K as rumored, it will go no where. |

More info on the next 370Z
I also agree that a Z that starts at 60,000 is crazy that's never what I meant. There seems to be a lot of drivetrain choices coming our way. I guess I should have just said that I believe there is gonna be a bigger price and performance gap between the standard Z and the nismo this time around. But a 50-60k nismo wouldn't be completely crazy

I got rid of my 370 not only because I needed a truck but because I wanted to plan for the next gen Z. If the next gen Z comes out at 60k, Nissan will lose 70% or more of the already tiny consumer pool interested in a Z car.
Why on earth someone would pay 60k for a low to mid 400 hp Z car when you can get a current gen vette for less, a CTS V used with low miles for 40-45k, used porches in the 50-60k range, 09-10 GTR's and the list goes on and on. The current gen Z is a very affordable car to maintain and repair for a sports car. You can forget about all of that with a MB power plant.

They pretty much strip the Q50 and stuff it in a two seater. Hybrid and V6. Theres the Z35. Probably look a bit similar too, back and haunches, just smaller. |
