At 400hp the price is gonna skyrocket, pricing many of us out of it. I reckon high 40s to 50s. Sucks :\

The video is just like what is online (and this forum). Wild speculation.
Car companies have been sharing technology and engines for years and years. That's why you can order bolt on TRD parts for your Chevy Cavalier.

At this point, I doubt all info until it is in the show rooms.

I don't want an electric motor. And if that affects having a manual transmission, **** it all.
Lighter car, yes. Turbo V6 with 400hp, yes.

Hmm... so they're going to recycle the body design? Not sure how I feel about having triplets. Face it: the average person thinks the 350Z and 370Z are the same thing. Now the Z35 would join the look-alike contest.
As much as I love the 350 & 370 lines, I'd more prefer Nissan to give us something new and just as beautiful. |

electric motor to spin the turbo and eliminate lag? electric motor to mega-increase low end torque? electric motor to increase fuel econ?

Electric motor to break? Electric motor to cost an arm and a leg to replace? Electric motor to have to be rebuilt every couple years? Electric motor to add a ****-ton more complexity to a motor and force me to buy a whole new assortment of tools and learning materials so I don't get raped by the dealership for repairs?

And for design, the Zs have had the same body design for years.

Well at the very least, this would give credence to the plan of waiting a couple of years before buying the new gen. Hopefully that will give them the time to get the issues that will inevitably spring up from the electric motors and the drive-train overall ironed out.
The idea of 400hp+ sings to me, but not for $50k+, which pretty much puts it outside my pay grade. It's sounding like I'll be sticking with the 370 for a bit longer. Which is fine, it will give me more time to play with it.

Whatever nissan does I hope it blows the '15 mustang out the water. New mustang GT has 435hp 400lb torque, but its a mustang so its also heavy. They're pretty much forced to up the hp since there are rumors of the s2k getting around 350hp (s2k might be a threat, or maybe a revived rx7 in a couple years), and the Z could lose a lot of weight. Which is always a good formula, less weight + more power =

Well, all speculation for HP and TQ aside, the current 5.0 has about 8.5 pounds peer HP to push around. The next Z MUST better that IMO one way or another for around $30K. Everything else is moot until that is achieved.

It's all speculation but with there being talk of two engines I would expect a turbo 4 to be in the 30k range. The top of the range Z I can see beating the mustang eventually with a turbo six. But as cool as that would be the mustang probably wouldn't be far behind, and even if they do manage to beat the mustangs performance I bet you they make us pay somewhere around 50k to get it. The lower turbo 4 model will be just alil better than what we got now.

More info on the next 370Z
So you don't think nissan will compete with the new s2000 and supra. Those cars are both rumored to be around 60,000 and the power figures on both those cars are what your looking for. We already no there is two engines in development so there's going to be a premium for more power. You will get a new Z for 30,000 just most likely not the one u want. Look how much of a premium you pay for a nismo with an extra 15 hp over a base lol.
