Exporting a 370z
 

Hi guys!

I want to export 2 used 370Zs from the US to Europe.

1. Are you aware of any kind of export taxes the US gov applies on exported vehicles? any limitations?
2. How does the used car market works in the US? I read about the CARFAX history report, is it reliable?
3. Do you need to pay VAT/TAX when you buy a used car?
4. Can you receive a TAX/VAT (if payed) refund incase you're a foreigner?
5. Can you recommend a car inspection company?
6. The regulations in Europe requires EURO standard headlights, the 370z sold in the US has a different type of headlights, which is not legal in Europe. The problem is, I can import those headlights to Europe and install them here, but it would be really expensive. I'm thinking about asking a US local shop to import a 370z EURO standard headlights to the US and install it. Is it possible to install a EURO standard headlights in the US and export the car?

not just the lights but a headlight washer system is also required in some countries as well as a functional fog light marker.

Um... just buy a Z in Europe.

after all the import fees and whatever else you have to do, buying one there is probably cheaper in the long run.

There is a reason I want to import it from the US.
The price is much lower even after import taxes.

Look into these two as well:
Do US-Spec Z's pass Euro emission requirements? I know the G37 had to be detuned to 320hp.
Is the US-Spec rear fog lamp compliant with Euro Requirements?

US Spec cars are all over Dubai mostly due to salvage titles but also because they come out cheaper in some cases.

I exported my Z to Canada (and back again) from the US.

There aren't really any regulations for *exporting*, you just have to present the title/etc to the border and they stamp it, no cost, see: Exporting a Motor Vehicle | U.S. Customs and Border Protection

*Importing* is a different matter. I had to pay fees, taxes, and get my headlights hardwired as DRLs for Canada. Europe will have its own rules and I can't help you there.

If you buy a car in the USA you generally don't have to pay sales tax (tell the dealer you're exporting it), usually that's paid when you register the car. (I bought my car in Colorado and didn't pay any tax).

A US shop would probably have no problem installing Euro headlights, if you know exactly what you need done.
