7AT and cruising to a stop
Do you guys feel a "rubberband effect" when coasting to a stop? Hard to explain in technical terms but the car just doesn't seem to cruise smoothly. The car seems to engine brake very noticeably hard when the 7AT is downshifting(in D mode.)
Don't know if this is a sportscar thing(although my last car was a 00 Z28) but it's getting on my nerves in bumper to bumper traffic. Last edited by molamann; 09-23-2009 at 08:43 PM. |

It's just the car shifting...nothing to really worry about.

Pretty standard with a lot of cars I've driven.
To look on an upside, at least the Z is letting you know its there. Nothing worse than a car you can't feel. |

If I remember correctly from my four 1 hour test driives... lol its like the car stops itself harder than u do during deceleration? If that's wat u mean? I think its normal. It felt like the engine was braking as u were braking with the car. I thought it was cool n made the car feel like to have the behaviors of a manual.
I'm sure there are owners out there who put thousands of miles on the car who may corect me if I'm wrong? But from my app 250miles of experience... lol. That's what I got from the test drives. |

give it a tad bit of throttle when it engages the lower gear.
same thing on the synchro-rev match on the MT's when letting the machine rev-match on the downshifts. unless you're braking hard the gearbox bounces you around because there's no throttle. |

I've noticed it and I love it. If you're coasting you're probably stopping or slowing down anyway. It's just doing what you want it to do. The Z reads the drivers mind lol. Seriously though if you want to maintain speed in a coast put it in neutral or give it a little gas. Higher HP engines will brake more than regular car engines.
