dumb question

Can you put the sport package on as a after market item? How can you tell if the base model has sports package? I found one with a small wing. ..

Grindkiezer 07-29-2014 05:35 PM

Bigger wheels (19")/bigger rotors and better calipers are the easiest way to spot it

If you find one with the big wing, that's a nizmo.

But basically what Grindkiezer said.

Yes you can but you'll be spending a lot more money for the items if you buy them from nissan. I would suggest (if you have a base model) to purchase all items aftermarket. Plus the only items you'd be buying would be the calipers (all parts) and wing. Get an aftermarket navi or cd deck and speakers. That just my opinion even though I wouldn't mind having a stock sports wing myself...

It's just cheaper for you in the long run if you purchase aftermarket parts honestly...

onzedge 07-29-2014 07:43 PM

No, you cannot.

It is next to impossible to add Synchro-rev after the fact.

SwissCheese 07-29-2014 08:41 PM

Doesn't the Sport model also have an LSD?

b15 07-29-2014 08:41 PM

On an MT only the Sport will have the synchro rev match and it pretty much cannot be added to a base. Look for the S-mode button to the right of the shifter. On the AT models, you can pretty much install all the Sport package parts yourself on a base. No one will ever know.

This is true, that is one thing you're unable to add...but at the end of the day, who really needs it if you know how to go through the gears...at the end of the day, you still can't add it. Enjoy what you have and augment as you see fit

Virtual 07-29-2014 11:32 PM

Just spend the extra 3k. I think its worth it. Sports package Z looks much better than straight up base, imo it looks like a egg

NoLaKrewe 07-29-2014 11:36 PM

The money is well spent on the sports package. Avoiding the cost now means paying more later.

At the end of the day its still not a sports package!

:(

Wow all this end of the day talk is depressing.

You could have an aftermarket wing on a base, too.

The best way to tell base vs. sport is, as stated I think, to look for S-Mode next to the shifter. If it does not have that, it's a base and it is modded. Might still be a great car though, you never know. :)

Definitely agree. At the end of the day you have a Z and the sky is the limit to what you can do with it. Make it your own. You can either start with cosmetics or you can start with hp upgrades, just make a decision and go with it...

Yes, the sport pkg also includes a viscous lsd. Also, if you have an AT, there won't be a sport mode button. You will need to by a different transmission ti get the synchro rev match. I asked this same question when I was looking. I got the sport pkg. It was cheaper than trying to go aftermarket.

G37Sam 08-03-2014 07:45 AM

1) Go to Google
2) Type "Nissan USA"
3) Choose Nissan 370Z
4) View the sports package and see what it contains
5) Apply common sense
( Click to show/hide )
6) Do not reproduce haha! j/k

Just to clarify, The AT does not have synchro rev match, because it does not have synchros. It has downshift rev match, which is not unique to the sport package. All AT models have this.

tonybell_57 08-03-2014 08:38 AM

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification.

If I had to buy a new Z34 over again....
:icon17: It almost makes more :twocents: to buy a base now!
1) upgrade front brakes w/the BremB0 kit (1N0.8002A3) $2k
2) fully build rear diff w/OSG LSD, frontier FD, heat sink cover, etc... into base pumpkin $3.4k
3) duckbill spoiler from '15 NizM0 $?
4) Volk Racing wheels w/good hi-performance summer rubber $5.4k

You'll have a BASE that will BEAT teh shi'1+e outa a stok base w/sport package for only $10k more!

Or you could buy the sport and put on a TT kit for the 10K and beat the base with some bolt on cosmetic stuff...:stirthepot:

Ya know, a "dig" works much better when the topic is fresh... we've nearly passed the 6-month mark here. :shakes head:
