Window tint problem
Has anyone had a problem with a passenger side window having a tint peel in the lower left corner (from looking at it from inside the car)
It started peeling with 3 weeks or so after getting it brand new. So I got a reputable company to redo it Austin where I live and did not roll down the window for 10 days and now about a month later it is starting to do it again. Sigh, I have never had this happen before. Could it be something wrong with the actual window, if not it means it was done incorrectly twice. |
Yep. I got that too. Been too lazy to bring it back to get it redone. Wonder if it's hitting something or just that rubber just picking it off when ever it goes down.
|
I thought that was just me. Hardly visible when the window is rolled up, but it makes a sound as it flaps when I roll down the window.
Once is an accident. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is enemy action. |
that sucks. any quick way of taking the door panel off and extending the tint with some additional tint film?
sounds like it's binding on the guide or something. |
Who did the work? Sounds like they aren't very competent. There are plenty of 370Z out there with tint and no issues like this.

Your tint guy is incompetent. The tint is not going far down enough and there is a piece of rubber in there that catches and you get what you have.
Take your door panel off and then remove the window seal. Shine a flashlight down in there and you'll see what is catching the tint. Leave the seal off and reinstall your door panel and reset the power window. Take it back to the tint shop, tell him to pull his head out of his *** and let him know you made his job very easy for him and to get the tint way down in there. Give it a few days and re-install that window seal. Been there done that. Had someone else do my 2014 and no problems. |
Could this be happening cause the window rolls down a little every time u open the door? I've been wanting to get tints done but was wondering if that little bit of movement could screw it up.

I have the same issue. Had my tint installed at the dealership when I picked her up 4 years ago. Haven't concerned me much to have it redone.

same problem here.
the panel would have to be removed and the tint extended a little more, then also heated for a longer duration for the tint to be secure. |
Properly installed tint should not have any of the issues you guys are experiencing. Do not let poor installers sway you from getting tint if you want tint. Just do your research and find someone that knows what they're doing (or will at least stand behind their work and fix it right).

there's a sticky in the interior/exterior section of this forum that discusses this:

Disable your switch on your door so the window will not move. Get you window redone and don't use that door for about a week. You will be fine after that. I had the problem too.

Just noticed this on my Z also, about 2 months old. Grumble Grumble.

If you don't mind, please post up who your $hitty installer was in the Austin area. It would be nice to help steer other people clear of incompetent shops. If it was a friend that did it on the cheap, you don't have to call them out by name :icon17:

^^^^^^^ This!
I'll get mine fixed eventually, so, knowing who -not- to use would be nice. |
