Spiders Inside/Outside Car
Hey all
So I got my Z back in April and since then I've killed/seen several spiders of mostly the same species in the interior as well as exterior. I've been parking in the same spot for the past 4 years and don't think I've seen the same amount over that entire period. I saw 1 inside and 3 on the roof just this morning. Has anyone else had a similar issue, and has there been issues of Nissan products arriving in NA with spiders? Just seems coincidental and wanting to run it by my dealership before getting it bug bombed. |

usually they just die due to no water/food. are you eating stuff in your car? maybe you have mice and ants you dont know about... |

Weirdly, I think Mazda has a TSB about this -- spiders finding their fuel door area tasty... I've seen a few ultra creepy "albino" spiders congregating around gas pumps in FL and also scuttling around my car at times, so you are not a madman on this one...
If the ones you are encountering are wood spiders (flat, brown, square-ish, no webs, and very fast), I'd ignore them as they don't bite, and as long as an egg was't laid somewhere in your car, not a big deal. Anything else, while its not necessarily a risk, is a bit unsettling, as many spiders, poisonous or not, leave painful bites. Also, who wants to be doing 65 on the interstate and find a giant spider land on their lap? I'd say, try either parking elsewhere and/or getting a half decent car cover. For any spiders that might be lurking in the car, pick up one or two of those sticky traps, and leave one in the trunk and maybe on the passenger floor (be careful not to trap yourself ) and see if anything gets caught. Good luck!

A heads up on bug bombing the inside of a vehicle. My wife left the sliding back window open on her Frontier and a gaggle of spiders took up residence inside. Of course she freaked out and I did the only thing I could think of and set one of those off inside. It was a friggin mess in there. That shyt left a residue over everything and took awhile to get all the trim and upholstry cleaned.

I almost wrecked my Altima a few months back due to the appearance of a rather large spider from the headliner, right in front me. As I attempted to eliminate it I momentarily forgot I was driving. But, no spiders in the Z yet. The Altima stays outside, while the Z gets the garage.

And, just to add to my and other posts on this, I too advise against any bug bombing -- it will really stink up the interior.
Also, spiders are pretty hard to bug bomb -- those things have to pretty much be crushed, drowned, starved, or set on fire to wipe out. Arachnids are tough bastards. Glue traps should nab them, however, without messing up the interior.

I have had a few little spiders here and there... I get in sometimes and there will be a web here and there... Just knock the webs out of the way and she's as good as new.
