Biased, non biased opinions... Help

As a long time forum member (almost since the 370 came out), I've been a fan of the 370z. I've been saving the past 2 years and am finally in the market to pull the trigger. I know more than likely what everyone on these forums are going to say, get the 370z and shut up. While I realllllly want to, I want something faster... Without having to TT the Z.

Basically my options are... Anything under 60k. I just got the wife a 2014 A4, and while I really don't like buying new cars (for obvious depreciation reasons), its going to be brand new.

The only requirements are-

Under 60k (obviously the cheaper the better, ideally around 50~)
Manual

TL;DR- Should I just buy the Z and TT it or explore other options (up to 60k) ?

There are faster cars you can buy for < 60k. For example, the mustang 5.0 I recently traded for my Z was a few 1/10 second faster 0-60. That being said, I buy cars to DD, not race and though I do like to stretch out a cars performance now and then, those few 1/10 will never make a difference, as I'll never line up head to head with any other car to race, street or track. I always know the specs of any car I own, the general specs of other cars, and pretty much know without a run what the outcome would be. Buy what you like!

Buy a Z and TT it.

I personally would try to find a slightly used 'vette (or new? I have not looked at their prices recently) but thats just me.

I vote for the vette! Not as nibble as the Z but the vette is fast and damn intimidating on the road!
The Z is more spanking flirtatious!

Find a used GTR for that money

2012 - 2013 corvette for your price point. Older GTR if you want auto. I personally would still get Z

I was shocked to see that there are GTRs available for 60K on Autotrader. They might not be the best examples, but they do exist.

I would look for a Vette as well. You can probably find a new C7 for that, or a just little more.

Of course the big brother GTR but get the 11+ models.
2009 have transmission/clutch issues with too much launch control.

1) Buy a gently used Boss 302 Mustang and add forced induction.
2) ???
3) Profit!

Didn't expect to see this many replies this quickly, love the370z :D

I think everyone seems to forget... Most people like the Z because its fairly quick and great around the corners. I, too, like the Z for that reason. If I were to go the Vette/Mustang route, I feel asif I would be disappointed. Maybe I just need to get out and test drive.

As for the GTR, its auto. I refuse to buy an automatic sports car, takes the fun outta it.

Thanks though everyone :tiphat:

Also a good choice! A roots blower would make the car amazing.

Shelby GT500?

njobe89 07-24-2014 07:17 AM

i'd go with a z06 vette you can find them in the 40 range for 2008+

mab864 07-24-2014 07:20 AM

A C7 vette gets around the corners better than just about every other car. You can get a C7 with the Z51 package for 60K. I'd wait and buy a 2 year old one though.
