My only gripe with the vette about 90% of owners i see are senior citizens!
Dang don't want to wait to drive a sports car that nice when I'm already osteoporotic in my spine!

$60,000 is a lot of money.

A Vette? No way. Yawn. A muscle car? Lame. None of those cars have any soul.

OP...why do you want something faster? Bragging rights or the track?

I did a search on autotrader and you can get 911s and even Caymans for $60,000 and even low $40s. Aston Martin V8 Vantage if you want a V8. Or a Lotus Evora or Exige. Tons of Audi's and BMWs if you want the European version of yawn. If you're going to get an American power machine get a Viper. At least they are not as common.

And when you decide meet me in PA at the Tristate Import Tuner event next year. I'll show you what a twin turbo 370 can do. :D

Really? No soul? It's America's first true sports car! Remember, you can always mod something to go faster but you will run out of cubes with most of the cars you mentioned.

To the OP, my unbiased ;) opinion is get a new C7. A base model is faster than the Z and is less than $55K. Just head up to Nashua, NH. McMulkin has dozens on his lot.

It's a great question and a tough decision:ugh2:

I've owned a GTR and like it a lot, only downside was the upkeep. You will also own a expensive car and will be treated like a turd like the rest of the Nissan owners at the dealership.

I traded the GTR in for the C7, pictures on here, and it's my second favorite car I've ever owned. There isn't one thing I don't like about the new Vet. You can say for old people, maybe just for people that can drop that much money for a car.

The wife drive an A7 and it puts me to sleep. :stirthepot:

My favorite car to drive is my Nismo :tiphat: I installed some aftermarket parts and had a tune done. For the $$$$$ it's the best bang for the buck. I purchased it used for $36,000 with less than a 800 miles.

Just my 2 cents

I went through the same process before I TT my Nismo and I have not been disappointed at all. It's pretty awesome having a "sleeper" that is faster than the muscle cars listed above. Oh yes you can mod them too, but you won't stay under your $60K threshold. My suggestion is if you want a Z get a Z, a 12 or 13 and you will be able to buy all the supporting mods and come out with money in your pocket!

I have never been a vette fan but I love the C7 so I would buy it or the 370Z and TT it. I have a friend I track with that just traded in his 350Z track car for a BMW M3 and loves it but I'm just not into owning a BMW.

I feel like we're in the same boat, except I couldn't afford 70k for my wife's car (if i wanted to have 60k for my toy :stirthepot: )

+rep for the info :tiphat:

If I were you i'd go for a 2011-2013 BMW M3 6 speed.

You can find quite a few of these for under 60k with low miles.

If I had the kind of cash to buy one of those it would be in my garage within a heartbeat :)

Fiat 500 Abarth with all the bells and whistles. Take the rest the the money and fly 1st class to anywhere in the world and have a hell of a vacation.

Thanks though everyone :tiphat:

The problem I have with vette/camaro/mustang/challenger is that every third car on the the road is a vette/camaro/mustang/challenger. Way too many of them. This summer I have seen only a few 350Z's and damn few 370Z's. They are unique and that is very high on the list of why I like it. Other than the fact that it is quick/fast enough for this old fart and I have only rarely stretched the traction control. AutoX will fix that.

lol i move what i consider old every 5 years, so as of now anything over 30 is old -_- lol so this way i will always be young :stirthepot:

bdavis89 07-24-2014 10:31 AM

I'd go BMW M3, Audi S4/S5 (or even a used RS4/5), or Cadillac CTSV...for that kind of money I want luxury as well as speed.

Is this car a secondary toy or is it your daily driver??

What kind of power expectations are you hoping for??

What type of driving are you planning on doing -> Straight line vs. carving back roads??

Any specific type of features/creature comforts that you are looking for??
