As they always say if there is smoke there is fire!
This is not very remote not to happen. Motor trend is going towards hybrids and turbo charging! This people knows how to re-direct the Market and instigate change. Who started the syncro-rev anyway? Is it Nissan? Now every car maker even the big dogs like Porsche and Corvette follows. Btw the last time I heard the true essence of a sports car should always be in a manual! I myself is a believer of this. Well guess what Porsche Gt3 is auto/paddle shifter now...oh did I forget the new Nismo has lost its bonner too!!! So who dictates the trend now? Is it still the consumer or we are being forced to accept the current technology? Last edited by Zoren 370; 08-08-2014 at 12:26 PM. |

I doubt the manufacturers care which people choose: only the one that gets the best sales. Their decision to only offer automatic or only CVT, is more to cut production costs than a secret hidden vendetta against sticks. |

With Toyota teaming up with BMW for their new sports car I can see Nissan working with Mercedes, doesn't seem so far fetched. Also Toyota did pretty well with Subaru on the twins (BRZ & FRS).
I'd love to see a nice new dual-clutch auto transmission as an option, I'd be all over that. Standard automatic transmission with paddle shift, not so much. Last edited by ElwoodBlues; 08-08-2014 at 06:07 PM. |

It's definitely not far fetched. Nissan and Mercedes have been working together for a couple of years now. We just need a rumors section to move all of these Z35 threads into.

I remember Porsche said years back they will only cater to making sports cars no SUVs...,.now what do we have the cayenne and the latest Crossover Machan. Who cares about the purist? They are only a few. Widen the market that is where the money is! Make a super car affordable and run through the production line thus comes Nissan GTR with all the driving aids even a 16 year old rich mamas boy can drive one in the track like a pro! Even car makers have change there game why kill each other when we can team up to survive and build an affordable sports car a 4 banger thus the brz/frs! What a nice strategy isnt? Why not Nissan + renault + merc come up with the same stategy so that even a newly high school graduate would able to taste what it feels to have a sports car! Again Because its PRofitable. So the rumors might be just arond the corner. |
