I don't think anyone here wants the Mercedes engine but they're the only engines brought up in any article I have found. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Dont kid your self the heart of a car is the engine and transmission. Its the death of the z if they source to mercedes. I would rather see a 4 cylinder turbo made by nissan that focused on performance then a v6 turbo merc engnine. |
I just hope Nissan doesn't do that "engine noise amplification" BS that other car companies are doing.
|
Well, the new GT-R that's getting released in 2017? will have the 3.8L V6 twin turbo motor- hybid combo with over 800HP. So any turbo motor may make it into the new Z.

Don't kid yourself, a well developed mercedes powerplant isn't end of Z if that's direction nissan goes. Have to hand it to Nissan they have kept all in the dark about what's going on with Z. |

Is the FRS a Subaru? Is the Genesis 2.0 an Evo? Is the Vette a Silverado? Its not like Nissan is going to be taking these motors out of Benz's. Just because they use the basic engine design doesn't mean that Nissan won't have any development in the motor that makes it to the Z. This is all speculation anyway. Hell Nissan could use the motor straight from the Mercedes factory, but even then to say its not a Z is absurd. Nissan is going to be doing a ton of R&D on the car. Specifically design for a smaller/lighter car and suspension. Mercedes is not. |

If nissan can truly dig in and increase reliability and make a Mercedes engine mod friendly then it wont be the death of the z. These speculation forums really bring out the best in all of us... lol Im not arguing fyi |
Z35 motor theory
I'm not as worried about the engine as I am the hybrid setup that will be paired to it. It's one thing to have a hybrid DD that you don't plan on keeping since the warranty will pretty much take care of you, but putting a really expensive system that will most likely need expensive maintenance work on top of the regular drivetrain maintenance worries me.

Next-gen Nissan GT-R will go hybrid, pack 784 HP |

as for your other comparisons... well i see some hemi-engined cars. Well that's a wolf in sheep skin imo. |
i just read on carmarketnews that it will have 408hp? it will be the benz engine... how much truth there is behind that who knows
|
It better not be 408+hp and also lighter. I was planning to keep the 370 for a long time instead of wasting money upgrading...
|
idk... i plan on keeping it till i pay it off, then sell it and get something better.
