This tells me they are getting there but not quite there. Engine is just one example, everything else can be measured by similar means.

Are you talking about the 2.0T, the 3.8 or the sedan's engine regarding similar in class? The 3.8 was cross shopped a lot against the Z.

And isn't the 2.0T a detuned 4B11?

Not sure where u gettin ur info from but hyundai right now has powerplants that either rival or exceed honda and toyota. That genesis coupe 4b11 copy isn't the best in its line up but the 3.8 lambda II is a very solid engine. Right now the genesis coupe only weaknesses is too many hard materials and some poor engine programming.
Profits from 2010 should cover either a 2011-2012 update of some of there crappy 1st year programming. I wouldn't even doubt if u see DRM ON THE HYUNDAI.
And as far as doing what they do for under 30k n not succeeding the long haul.
Then u would have to say that about nissan. At a 30k intro, carbon fiber shafts n parts are very expensive r&d to put in a car like this. Now add an almost brand new engine, brand new high tech 7spd tranny at only 1,300 Plus dissect that sports package n ask yourself how r they giving u so much for 3k? Corvette doesn't get this type of technology in there cars till u hit 56k. U r getting 80% porsche tech at half the cost.

I don't see why hyundai can't do what they are doing at only a third less than the G37.
Besides if u look at it. Hyundai has a lot of the best tech in the car. But its kinnda outdated 2. But still, its the best of last gen tech at a low price. U gotta give them props though for having the most modern brembo brake system of any car up 2 60k. You will see bigger brake versions of that system on next years exotics. But hyundai had it 1st at a super cheap cost courtesy of good faith bizness with brembo.
Give hyundai 2 or 3 years... u r going to be totally shocked at what's coming.

Hyundai doesn't make tv's n cell phones. That's daewoo. A whole different company.
Daewoo makes everything from cars to guns to microwaves.

Hyundai are heavy in the machining business and ship building, truck n trailer making and construction architecture etc... if you don't know what you are talking about? Why even speak?

Have u even driven the hyundai?
I drove both 3.8 gt and track models and these cars are awesome. I opted for the Z on the strength of a superior tranny. The genesis is a hell of a car for a year 1 auto. Remember the Z has 40yrs so it will be superior. But this is the best u can get for a 1st time out coupe.
Ur just to ignorant to understand that though

And so does mitsubishi and yamaha...and they do alright. Honda makes lawn mower engines and generators.

It (on the surface) appears to be an Asian-theme where a company makes a number of products across a wide range. Kind of like a "brand you can trust for everything" approach. Also gives them survivability when one market slows.

Exactly... which is common practice in a socialized govt.
These are govt funded corporations with several subcompanies under the same name.
I guess bmw should hav stuck to making tools?
Or saab making planes
Think of all the gun companies that were doing something else.
Or all the toys that were invented thru true scientific experiments.
That was just a dumb comment made by that guy

I guess what Imgetting at is that you see Toyotas that are really old and are still running great. Will have to see if Hyundais will do the same. A Toyota car will last forever.
