This I know from experience, from trial and error, from suffering many underachieving automobiles. I had all kinds of trouble with Mitsubishi's high compression Eclipses throughout the 90s and early 2000s.
I've run crap gas in the Z as well and endured inconsistent performance until I discovered Sunoco gas. Now I only put premium Sunoco in my Z and the car runs like a champ, unless its just too hot and too humid.
So, I thought my daily driver 4-cyl Camry LE, not being a performance car, would perform the same regardless of which brand of gasoline I fed it, but I was wrong. I used BP for several months and the engine was not very responsive and performance was... well, the car was just plain slow. Laboriously slow. I figured maybe this was just the way 4-cyl Camrys ran until I happened to use a different brand of gasoline (Hess, I think it was). Suddenly, the engine ran smoother and the car was noticeably quicker. Now I feed my Camy nothing but Sunoco and all is well.
No one will ever convince me that all gas is the same.
You need to re-read what I wrote in my above post, but for reference here it is again. I added some emphasis. Stations who try and have a "premium" name attached (Shell, Chevron, etc) usually keep better care of their tanks, have rotating fuel constantly so it never sits for an extended time, and monitor the fuel for consistency and quality.

None, it is all the same (minus the "additives").
