Nissan 370Z Forum

Got hit this morning...

Believe it or not, dimples on bumpers take a lot of labor. Should be more than enough to get you into an amuse rep. The foam block is automatically replaced.

Believe it or not, dimples on bumpers take a lot of labor. Should be more than enough to get you into an amuse rep. The foam block is automatically replaced. Then the bumper, paint, and the labor. Adds up to 1200. Amuse rep is $600 new. You have enough to paint and install. I you are lucky, you can buy used that matches your paint.

Indeed!

When I had my '09, I accidentally backed into someone in my driveway. I was in "go to work" mode and totally forgot that I had visitors. The only damage to my rear bumper were some scratches down to the plastic, and a chipped tail light. My original thinking was that I would skip repairing the light, as it did not break the housing, and just get the paint damage fixed w/o insurance. I quickly changed my mind after visiting a collision shop. The estimate was over 2Gs to repair all of the damage. Needless to say, I filed a claim.

Coincidentally, I'm going to get a damage estimate tomorrow regarding my accident last weekend. Care to make an over under on the cost of repairs? What I can tell you is damaged is the front bumper, left fender, left front wheel and tire, and probably the wheel arch plastics. From my previous experience, Nissan will want to replace everything, rather than repair. I'm going to see if I can get a new set of tires, rather than just the one. I don't think there is anything wrong with the suspension components. I'm also not sure how they are going to handle the wheel. It's a 19" TE37 with a nasty bend on the lip. The bead did not break and the tire has been holding air just fine. A wheel repair shop said it can be straightened and then powder coated, but I don't think Nissan / State Farm will go for that.

I'll say 3K is the low 6K is the high...

I cring at the thought of it. I'm always worried about people rearending me. All you can do is expect it with all the shitty drivers out there these days.

there was no mention of what car the girl was driving, so how can you assume it was a crappy car? I've seen crappy drivers driving all sorts of cars.

Why would be it be crushed? Must ECE spec I take it and not DOT which calls for a higher impact rating.

I was sitting at a stop light back in '97 in my '83 Datsun 200sx and some lady nailed me from behind doing 60kph. Some people are just oblivious. Wrote off one of the best cars I ever owned. Got a whopping $500 for it to boot.

The estimate came in below 3K, from a Nissan collision center. This assumes that my wheel can be repaired and there is no "hidden damage."

Sorry for all this mess. No mention of back pain says you've dodged the worst bullet.

Ever since the nickel jolt I spent at Folsom, I have this intense fear of "rear-enders".

So, the estimate for repair is around $1000. Should I go with an aftermarket bumper? How much cost am I looking at to get an aftermarket bumper, have it painted, and installed?
