I have to shift under 3k OTHERWISE any dork next to me thinks i'm racing. At 3k the headers begin to get loud.....

35 mph in 1st, 60 mph in 2nd, and 90 mph in 3rd sounds about right
But in all seriousness, on my daily commute, I often find myself driving 1st and 2nd gear to 5K RPMs and then skipping to 6th gear and cruising around 50 mph.

Is skipping gears from 2nd to 6th advisable? I thought that was bad due to something with the syncros.....

Absolutely it is bad if you're not patient with it. My 6th gear grinds coming from 5th sometimes, so I am especially careful with it coming from 2nd gear. As long as I wait for the RPMs to settle coming out of 2nd before trying to put it into 6th, everything is fine

Another option, one that I usually use, is to just do quick shifts up to six, rather than making that jump.

But that's not as much fun as redlining 1st and 2nd

That's what I mean. Redline first and second, then do quick shifts up to sixth, that way no gears are skipped.

I guess I just skip to keep the wear off the clutch rather than running through gears 3-5. With SRM on, I just hover over the 6th gear gate until the RPMs drop before I engage the gear - I think this is less wear on the clutch system than running through the gears quickly. Most people probably do this so infrequently that it doesn't really matter which method they use

I've had my 2014 for exactly a week now and i read what the manual said just out of curiosity, haha. For the sake of the clutch, if you don't use gas getting into first you'll save a lot of miles on the thing, and it helps nourish clutch working skill because going up an incline with just clutch and no gas in traffic is a toughie!
