If you don't mind the cost, PSS. Bridgestone Potenza S04 is another good option that doesn't cost quite as much.

Stay away from the V12.

Here it is again.

Hercules, the chinese tires that loves to come apart. Yeap, heard of them before.

conor1123 07-08-2014 01:48 PM

I usually see Hercules on a lot of off road vehicles around here. They try and lure you in with a good price but its just a cheap tire. My buddy's 4runner came with them and the front ones are now separated lol!

It was my understanding thst some well known brands sell tires under different names at a much lower price but almost as good quality.

Buy the Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I am ordering a new set this week. I replaced the original OEM tires at 17K miles. The Michelin PSS that I replaced them with have gone 27K miles and I could probably get another 3,000 miles out of them but they are getting noisy as the tread diminishes and the car already has way too much road noise. My car is a daily driver and I think 25K + miles on those tires is very reasonable. The best price I have found is from Discount Tire.

So when I bought my Z they had to put a new set of rear tires on her in order to Nissan CPO her.
They put on a tire called Hercules Raptis WR1's.
So i've been noticing that when I take a sharp corner at moderate rate of speed (not high speed) they will lose traction and the traction light lights up my dash.

They now have about 300 miles on them....
Do sport tires need time to "break in"? If so, how long? Or do these tires just suck?

thanks in advance!

Update.....
Well I have almost 1000 miles on these tires now and they are gripping 100% better (dry road, wet road). I admit not as well as the tires I had on my 2009 Z, Toyo Proxes T1R's. I'm not scared of them anymore as I was when I first drove on them.
Someone needs to tell Hercules that the substance left on the tires after their molding process is VERY SLIPPERY until around the 800 miles mark.

Just wanted to let everyone know.

lol'ed at proxes... i didnt know people still run toyo's.

enkei2k 08-07-2014 09:42 AM

I would have chosen some Mashamoto ZX tires instead over these 'Hercules' tires.

I heard those are really popular in the street racing world. :icon17:

Use the rapists for driftin

Pearl Z 08-07-2014 11:19 AM

Those tires are garbage. I would never sell those tires at my shop.

Roddy1 08-07-2014 11:26 AM

Hmm, put them on craigslist and buy yourself a set of decent tires. Tires can make or break a car. In saying this I need to buy two front tires...
