maybe it's just me but GT series has just been falling behind. Forza really caught up in the looks of the game dept.

GT5 I didn't like - I just raced until I could get the 2002 Mazda RX-7 Spirit R, and now I just put put around in it, but the gameplay is just bleh.

I always thought Forza wasn't really production car racing - so never bought it - but it looks like it's just like a professional level Need for speed with production cars as well as race formula or lemans cars....

Quite the opposite if you ask me. I found Forza 2 to be the best simulation game to come out in quite some time. The physics of the game were 2nd to none upon release and the game play was great. NFS always seemed very unrealistic as far as what is actually possible with a car. Forza 2 had several production car raced where you could not modify the cars at all. Almost all of the other races had some sort of requirements as well. They classified cars depending on their mods, etc to make the competition as fair as possible. I would expect Forza 3 to further this and I expect it to be once again the best simulation game of its time. I would recommend you at least try it out

Except NFS-Shift is all track w/ production cars and no relevance to real-world.

I'm running around with "the works" Lambo (forget the model, but it's the best tier-3) and I can run UNDER another car and either spin them out or have them drop down behind me as if I passed them normally. No way that would happen.

Forza, from what I've heard has gone a bit more arcade, while NFS-Shift, as it's shown me, has gone less arcade...

The end result is that I don't like NFS-Shift but play the hell out of it so I feel like I got something for spending nearly $70...

I hope the same doesn't happen w/ Forza.

The only gripe about Forza2 for me is that cars would not do any extremes when it comes to physics - by that I mean a car doesn't lift off the ground when you go from the banked corners to the flat spots due to the massive amount of air going under the car, and, the cars wouldn't do any extreme wrecks - spins, sure, enough to make you dizzy, but they wouldn't go airborne or roll over.

Hey I went to a z meet bbq a couple weeks ago and a graphic artist for forza 3 was there. I've met him a couple times before and it was interesting to hear what he had to say about the game.

FM2 licenses prevented cars from doing major crashes and flips because some manufacturers didnt want their cars to be assumed that they flip and do barrel rolls on a regular basis so crashes were takin out completely.....FM3 has better crashes in it now though...

I would agree with you on that. I am hoping to see this resolved in FM3. With the exception of going under cars in NFSS I thought the accidents were pretty good. I also found it pretty cool in NFSS that certain parts of the pavement and transitions would unsettle the car instead of remaining planted to the ground like you see in most games.
