why does it do this?

ok i have tried to show off when i first got my car and tried to launch at around 4500 no higher and then went to shift into second and when it did it just acted funny as hell, it went into like a limp mode is it becaus of a safety feature they may have installed to save the clutch or can the cluthc not handle that? and yes i know and never will try to launch that hard but just that one time worries me. thanks!

Umm...was your traction control off? Because when its on, it does this funny little thing to keep you from dying.

Wow! Why so hard on the car when you first got it?Not even broke in!
Being worried when you abuse the car?
Take the time to grow up and not be so foolish!
Did you over rev when you launched as the tires were spinning?

That was a very aggressive launch. Try not to do it again! I don't think that was a safety feature that went off. Sounds like something not so good might have happened. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, I don't wanna give the guy misinformation.

If you re read your post it states "when I first got my car"!Also with your post it states you drive an 09 Z? So with the Z being fairly new most would assume you got a new Z!
Thats how I took your post and that was my reply.
So you are saying that it was a used 09 Z with 10,000 miles on it?
At any rate you did state you were "showing off when you first got the car"!
Not exactly the smartest thing to be doing in my opinion!Shows a little immaturity don't you think?

There's this thing called a rev-limiter. You found it.

Agreed with the traction control comments. It would have felt pretty messed up if you had left that on, like the car was messed up.

... While I do think he was foolish for launching the car before he knew the limits of it from driving it around... He is certainly not foolish for driving the car hard before break in... there are MANY schools of thought on this and I can tell you I redlined my car once every day for the first 2k miles... You should have seen all the crap after my first oil change that came out w/ the oil...

The part I put in bold above -- I just want to make sure I understand -- are you saying that as a positive? i.e., that it's a good thing for a bunch of crap to come out with your oil? If so, can you elaborate on why it's a positive?

The the OP . . . you stated that you "tried to launch at around 4500 no higher and then went to shift into second . . ." Am I to understand that you held the clutch pedal in at 4500 then dumped it directly from neutral to 2nd gear? Or did you start off in 1st gear? I guess what I'm trying to figure out is what rpm you were at when you shifted into 2nd, and from which gear. Presumably, you would have shifted into 2nd from 1st, but the way you wrote it kinda makes it sound like you skipped 1st gear altogether and tried launching straight from 2nd.

agree! and i got my Z wit 15 miles on it... its not my first rodeo BLOWN32 "Not exactly the smartest thing to be doing in my opinion!Shows a little immaturity don't you think?" and if you own a Z you know you have shown off before and who do you think you are to say i am immature? everyone has done it once
