Let's not forget the NIsmo is heavier than than the Z Sport. I agree that a Base Z34 w/Sport package 6MT would fair MUCH better than the NIsmo.

I would really like to see the results of the 7AT on the track however..

After digging around YouTube for Best Motoring Tsukuba battles with the Base Z34, the two videos I found of separate tests showed its best lap times to be very consistent: 1:06.669 and 1:06.754.

YouTube - Best Motoring: Seiji Ara 370Z vs keiichi tsuchiya Nismo 350Z Superleggera

YouTube - NEW 370Z vs Cayman S vs. BMW 135i vs. 997 Carrera PDK vs. S2000 Type S (HQ)

Compare that to the NISMO's 1:09:055 around Tsukuba and it comes in behind the Base by ~2.34 seconds...a significant margin on any track, let alone one as short as Tsukuba.

For comparison purposes, the NISMO S-Tune did 1:07.110:

NISMO fail.

Let's be honest. Best Motoring races are not the way to compare cars. There is a HUGE driver element in these supposed head-to-heads. In the first 5 seconds of the race you see the Nismo driver sitting on the rev limiter. Pretty sure that's not the fastest way to get around the track. Also, I can't help but feel there is a staged element to the races. Every car gets a little face time in front, and then a Cayman wins. It's how almost every one of these BM videos go.

:iagree:

This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_BkOMWTFSec shows that the 911 CARRERA S best lap time around tsukuba was 1'07.447 and in this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZGvu1rO0rM 1'05.350.Separate tests showed Best Motoring best lap times to be very inconsistent.

Guys. I just noticed this: Take a look at the time attack times. The Nismo is JUST behind the Cayman S.

Cayman S: 1:12 1 06
Nismo Z34: 1:12 2 92

That seems a bit more realistic.. I think.. As one of the post mentioned earlier: The base with Sport pack appears faster than the Nismo around the track. I think the Nismo is for the Drifters and the Base/Sport for the Trackers

every car had a dual clutch tranny including the Z4 35si...so the Nismo didnt do that bad...I wonder how the 7 Spd Auto would fair...I feel the Z driver is at a disadvantage due to all the other Dual clutch cars....

the nismo should be doing better. there's an issue here.
Tires. swap out to a better set and it'll do wonders i'd bet.

swap a set of advan AD08's on.
265/30/19
295/30/19

that should make it much better.

or the best way to do things??

get a base/sport for 30,000

and you have 6,000 to spend.

a set of enkei's and tires will be about 2,000.
nismo suspension and chassis bit are 2,000.
and 2,000 to spend on power.

or just swap out the damn tires.

So we need the DSG in 2011. And AWD.

Assuming you were going to pay cash. If credit then the average guy doesnt have an extra $6K just cuz he went to a base model. Most have no money to put down except the trade in beside a few hundred or so maybe no matter which model they get.
