370Z power

Hello all,
Coming from a WRX and soon to be gone 07 GTI I am just wondering what the power is like with the 370Z. Does it push you back in your seat and is the torque really felt. I cannot take one for a test yet but the more I read about them the more I want one this spring. Great forum BTW :hello:

No... there is no turbo so you wont have the boost kick... but... you will have a really reliable very flat tq curve to push you through the gears and a pretty good top end...

The thing you will notice is this: from 0-80 the W / STI / EVO all will do exceptionally well against the Z ... but once you cross the 80/90mph mark... you expose those cars weaknesses... 4bangers w/ 2.0l can only do so much up top end...

I bet a stock 370 from a 80 roll will be able to pull on a LOT of bolt on Evo's and STis all the way to max speed...

I came from a modified biturbo Audi S4. The low end torque is no comparison, but the power delivery is strong and linear. You get more of steady push into the seat for a longer time compared to the fast hard shove and then slight fade.

Different feels, but still quite pleasant.

I had a EVO before and I def. miss the boost rush, and driving the car it doesnt feel that fast in stock form, but I'm use too 11-12 sec street cars.. I bought the car with FI plans so i wasnt so worried about stock from has far as HP is concerned.. where the car really shines is its handling.. it is right up there with my EVO in that department and with a TT kit will be faster also w/ less boost lag!

test drove the 09 STI a while ago... was one of the 02WRX owners long time
ago and had utec and all. was a fast car...but the problem with the 09 was
the same with my modded 02... it still reminded me quickly that it's a
4banger...that delay you get before the spool. one of the reasons why i
got rid of the 02WRX and got my G35C 5yrs ago.

370Z just pulls basically from any rpm given that you're in the right gear
instantaneously. no more of that silly wait time.

VW GTI has all kinds of torque....different feel with the 370Z. Top end power better on the 370Z

VW GTI interior is much better quality than 370Z.

Gas mileage much better in the GTI.

370 Z different type of car than a GTI

Welcome to the site! Like the others have stated all Z's are more or less like GT cars power and such are geared more toward a smooth and linear fashion..Rather than a kick in the butt whiplash ride.;)

Yeah the VW turbo has nice torque from 1800 on which makes it feel faster than my old 04 WRX even though it`s not. I was really disappointed in the power of the WRX as it was so hyped and I never got to really get on it with the test drive. After when it was broken in and I did I was expecting more.

The Z has to move as the 0-60 and quarter mile times are as fast as a new mustang GT

I guess the torque will feel better than my VW as it only has like 200/200 stock.

I believe the Mustang is mid to high 13's VS the Z which is low 13's so the Z is faster than the Mustang GT.

The car is fast however, as others said the power is linear so you will hit speeds quickly but it does so smoothly so it doesn't feel nearly as fast as it really is. In other words...the speed will sneak up on you quickly. Take one for a test drive and make sure it's the car you really want.

You're not kidding on how fast it "gets up there"

Going along at 65, it's easy to be going 80 "passing" a semi. :)

Fastest I've been with this car is 120ish. Was ran through each of the "gears", was in 5th (of 7) and was attempting to get to redline, got spooked and decided to slow down - plus I was approaching a subdivision entrance and didn't want to risk anything. For that 3/4 mile though....WOW.

My work has a private road so I took one of my co-workers and launched my car...as I let off he was like wow that was a fast 0-60 and I looked over and laughed and said...you mean 85? He was like WTF...what impresses me the most is that it keeps pulling, it doesn't fall off which is rare for an N/A.
I have to admit the more I drive the car the more I like it!

i personally think you strike a good balance having both a GTI and a 370z. i sure miss having the 'kick' of a turbo, it sorts of makes the 370 feel lazy altho the speeds it does so comfortably. having driven both before, i'm impressed with the sound of the gti, not so from the 370 as i expected a creamy smooth sounding 6 but all i get is gritty noise and a vibrating gearknob and clutch pedal.
my advice is to buy one only after you've driven the 370. if u like the rough edges, by all means.
