I have 4 running vehicles and 2 parts cars (240Z).

I would have more if I had more space. Mrs. Dr. onzedge™ lets me do anything with vehicles, but they have to have 4 wheels.

It was terrible in the rain, it would intermittently turn the traction control off by itself, and the quality was simply far less than what I expected from a car with its price tag. It supposedly had 290 hp, but it was a slug off the line. A four door sports car it aint! My wife backed into it coming out of our garage, there was $1700 damage to the Maxima and her Mercedes had a small scratch that I literally buffed out and you can't see it. I've owned over 20 cars and it was far and away my least favorite. I couldn't get rid of it soon enough. I absolutely hated that car. FYI, I traded it in on an SUV.

Now I'm looking for a fun sports car. I love the Z, but this Maxima experience has left me wondering if I'm an idiot to buy another Nissan.

Thanks.
Ive only had mine a month but so far all I can say is...awesome. I looove it so far. Plenty of power, tight steering, good cornering, comfortable interior (and im 6'1) and amazing looks.

I love my Z, obsessed on getting one. Got it two months ago, but here are my gripes, and they're big to me.

1. Engine harshness, vibrations through clutch pedal and shifter make it feel unrefined. Makes me shift sooner than later cause I feel like I'm way up there in RPMs. That's a big complaint for me. Feels unrefined in that regard, almost like I have solid mounts.

2. Feels kinda slow, acceleration is ok, just doesn't feel like a low 13 sec 1/4 mile, low 5 sec 0-60 car.

3. Drivetrain noise, trans makes noise when u let go of clutch once it engages in neutral. You can hear the trans spin once you drive. If you have the door open and turn off the car it sounds like a tractor being turned off.

But the car soaks up potholes and bumps way better than I expect with no rattles. Handling is sharp, fun to drive, feels solid.

Add that in with the amount of noise it makes at idle and it can turn off a lot of people. But if you are familiar with Z cars you know that this is something common in almost all models of the Z. They were never known for having a silky smooth transmission.

My 280ZX had a very nice tranny, extremely smooth compared to the current 6mt's. Like I always tell people, my 1978 Datsun B210 and my 1980 Nissan/Datsun pickup had a far better MT's than Nissan uses in the Z's.....................and that’s sad.

the throttle map can be smoother and clutch could feel better, but the gearbox itself doesnt feel that bad to me. actually it feels fine.

I'm really surprised how many people complain of the noisy ride...I don't think it's that bad. Of course I've played guitar for 30 years. My only real complaint is that I really don't like all the attention it gets. I hadn't thought of that when I bought it. My next car will definitely be more stealthy and might have to be an auto....I can't believe I said that, but I'm so old my knees are getting arthritic and sometimes in Chicago traffic my clutch leg gets a little sore. Naw....I'll never buy an automatic....I'll take public transportation if it comes to that.

I hate the nissan paint job, it chips super easy and it's more susceptible to bird crap etching. I had an old 94 integra that I drove the crap out of. I remember driving it one time on a road that was just stripped so they can repave it. The stripped road stretched out for 5 miles. I can hear tons of rocks hitting the bumper and fenders and just one small tiny dent... I mean tiny, smaller than a pea but the paint was fine. I bought mine used with 22K miles and parts of the front bumper have rock chips as well as the hood. They're small and you'd have to get real close to notice. I eventually want to fix the chips and respray the car.

lots, lots, lots of road noise and it rattles sometime. It has a lot of power but I wish they cranked it to 350 or 360hp stock. Would leave it around 290-300whp, after some bult-ons and a proper tune, you could get it up to over 330 without FI. The stock exhaust note is too quite in my opinion. I got passed by a fiat 500 abarth and that thing sounded a lot better than the nismo. Normally all sports cars have a really nice sounding exhaust, the stock one is kind of dull. Now with that being said, does that make me re-think about keeping the car? HELL NO. It's a sports car! it's supposed to be a loud ride, it's supposed to have some flaws, it's not a damn lambo or aston dbs
I heard drilling a few holes in the back box muffler increases noise.

Care to explain why you prefer the G37?

There is no doubt that the Z is gorgeous and turns alot of heads, but it's just not for me. The blind spots are terrible, the stereo isn't great, it was terrible in the rain, and it scrapes everywhere (Sport Package spoiler). The Z also has a sporty suspension, but it's actually very nice for daily driving. The Z's interior is nicer than most sports cars in its price range, and feels very enclosed. Don't get me wrong, the Z is nice car, it's just not the performance machine I expected.
Its called boost yo as you are probably aware. I owned a 13 speed 3 prior to the Z. I much prefer the NA engine to boost, now don't get me wrong when I floored the speed3 it was brown pants moments for sure however outside of boost it was just a typical 4 pot jap econo box with extremely harsh road noise and stiff suspension. Wife wouldn't even want to be passenger.

All you ******* complaining about clutch rattle. Nissan must have copied BMW as all the stick bimmers I've owned also has this. Basically in neutral depress clutch pedal noise goes away. Effin normal coz race car lol

Only shite I got with Nissan is trim and body quality control. Seems like Ray Charles was on their payroll.
