Z Killer ?!?!
Hi!
At a Brazilian Mitsubishi Forum, a member has posted an article from Import Tuner Magazine (november), about the Eclispe GT. Have you seen? They say that with only 3 up-grades (CAI, Ripp Header and Exhaust) they reached a "Naturally Aspired Power" and a "Z Killer". "outputting 290.5whp and 284.1 lb-ft torque, our eclipse gt was transformed from a decently quick aggressive-sounding commuter car into a tire roasting z killing roaring beast begging to be taken to the next level. we're not sure if any modification will continue to the car...but we're dying to drive a gutted one with sticky tires, a tuned suspension and RIPP SDS" http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/815...a3452c111o.jpg http://img15.imageshack.us/img15/374...984fa9f47o.jpg Can you believe it? |
interesting.. lets throw some bolt ons the z to see what happens :D
|
Whipped cream on dogshit. :gtfo2:
|
But its still a mitsubishi eclipse...
|
If you take car (A), and apply parts (B), it will out perform stock car (C).
Fill in A B or C with anything you want. |
Honda Civic
All the bolt ons you can imagine Ferrari F430 |
Who cares? The real question is why doesnt mitsu put the evo motor in the eclipse?

B= 25wet shot C=370z think your wrong |
I think the point here is that saying 'modded car A can make more power than stock car B' is just gay. It's not comparing apples to apples. So an Eclipse with a CAI, headers, and a CBE can take on a stock Z with no mods. Ooooo . . . Big F-ing Deal. Try comparing it to a Z with the same mods.

Pretty stupid article...throwing mods/money at cars will obviously make it faster, welcome to racing 101. What part of "there's always something faster" do they not get? You'd think a magazine would have something above the beginner race mentality LOL...thanks for the laugh!

Good luck handling all that power with the Eclipse's front-wheel drive. Meet my good friend torque steer! :tiphat:

how about they compare a modded clipse vs a modded z.
lol... I think they did that so, they can sell more clipses, idc. It's like saying a modded 350z can beat a 370z. |
I saw at another magazine, an article about Z. The name is "The car of the year 2010: Nissan 370Z". Have anyone seen this?
They used the same mods (Stillen G3, Stillen exhaust, High Flow Catalytic Converters) and results were pretty good, about 30~40 whp. |
Magazines get paid to write articles that polish the knobs of the vendors they have advertising them.
If the only way they could write up a good review was to add a few mods to "compete" with a "car of the year", well...there ya go. |

Fox-Body 5.0 Mustang + ~$1m in mods = Veyron killer.

I have heard that alot, But the one thing you have to remember its how the power transfers to the ground, you can make 500whp and only get 400whp of usable power.

so are they talking about 290 whp? cus if so - thats very impressive to say the least... I dont know if i will take an eclipse over the Z but its still very impressive

lets put this to bed. I own a 4G GT Eclipse. That 290hp is at the crank. With my K&N Typhoon intake, Magnaflow exhaust, Headers, and an AEM Fuel Ignition controller, i've dyno'ed at 277whp/256ft/lbs. With all my mods and RRE motor mounts + Ingalls TQ damper, I ran a 13.6 at sea level. Torque steer is AWFUL, the front tires have traction issues, and the tranny sucks. RIPP has a supercharger system that uses a vortech V5 blower that makes 450whp/344ft/lbs, but everyone that has one are too bigga ******* to run them at the track. Do not talk shyt about a car you know nothing about for those who were, its a great car, I love it. But it is not a Z by any means. There is ZERO aftermarket support for it, and the headers and big power makers are custom jobs, meaning mucho dinero, the headers are $1200. But no chance in hell will it challenge a 370, 350 maybe.
If yall want real info, check Club4G Eclipse. |
and btw, the ECU's will "de-tune" themselves, I lost power with my intake and exhaust until I got the AEM FI/C, fukkin lame.

Hi all,
I am the one who posted the magazine article at the brazilian forum, friend of Brazilian Z. I really love the Z, but have chosen the Eclipse mainly due to its back seats and trunk. I have two children and need that space. Dont even bother to explain me about the performance superiority of any stock Z. I know this. After discovering trackdays, all my friends kept telling me that I should have chosen the 350Z. But thats life. Now I have two other Eclipse 2G (GST and GSX) and have just purchased an Evo X. But my heart says the only car I would ever exchange for my 4G would be a Nissan GTR R35 (it has back-seats and good trunk space). Maybe I am doing this next year. The previous statement (friends telling me I should get a Z) is illustrated at the following video: YouTube - My Eclipse 4G History. Red...take a look at YouTube - ZikiziraBR's Channel. You are going to see videos showing my 4G, with 271whp (automatic, untuned), in a lot of track events. Headers are not custom (there are two options only - RRE and Ripp). Without tuning, the car is piggy rich (AFR), but it is still quite powerfull. I have coilovers, PU bushes and motor mounts, Ingalls Stiffy and other handling mods. Torque steer has never been a problem to me and (please, with all due respect), no 350Z (stock or lightly modded) has ever beaten it at the track...but I am 100% sure that any Z with similar mods, would be a lot better than any 4G. Technically, we should never compare modded x stock cars. But that statement ("Z Killer"), is a good thing for both cars, imho. For the Z, it is telling that it is a reference, beloved car. For the 4G, it will make people look at it more closely, maybe driving the improvement of aftermarketing support. Its like telling car X is a Mustang Killer. It sells a lot of magazines and lots of car X. Best regards, Ziki PS: "Ziki" is not chosen after Zikiller. "Zikizira", my nickname for years, is a word in portuguese which means kind of a strange sickness condition :) Quote:

Welcome to the forums! I miss the GSX... my cousin had a GS-T with GReddy upgrades. Gosh the exhaust sound was, and still is, very deep and smooth sounding... don't forget fast :-)

Zikizira, actually, the RRE short tubes and RIPP long tubes, are in fact, one off builds. They managed to stockpile some over the years. I know Mike at RRE personally. And yes, they do run rich with aspiration mods, easily corrected with the AEM FI/C with Brian J's wiring harness. My 4G has every mod available aside from the RIPP SDS, and while it will take a stock 350, it will never touch my 370. The 4G handles like a tank and has a HUGE turn radius. Great daily driver, but NOT a track star.
