If I want noise I can go windows down; also the only place I'm allowed to listen to music uninterrupted and at a tactile volume is in the car so I like a reasoned amount of sound dampening.
Exactly how I look at it too.

The grounds for divorce I used with my second wife was "I like good full sound, but not noise".

It worked.

Check your tires for camber wear. I just put a set of new tires on mine and it made a world of difference with road noise.

I used some spray on from boom in the doors and it did an amazing job of taking the vibration rattle out of it when I jam. I have Dyno in the back and it's still luad as hell with 305s. Hell, I don't care, I just crank up the Focals and I don't mind a bit.

I got the car back from the shop. I am happy with it. It certainly reduced road noice and heat coming up from the pavement. There are far fewer rattles. The hatch can still rattle with hard bass hits. The 2 JL W3s can produce some bass in that car too. It was pricey. I am not sure it would be a good value to most. But I am ok with it since the noises drive me nuts.

I am really happy with the shop's work. Very clean install. (Sound Xpression in Mesa, AZ)

I just finished up a GTMat install of the entire trunk, rear shock towers & wheel wells, and both doors. I used their 70 mL thick rubber onyx product. Wow... what a difference in road noise. Big like night & day difference. No more rock sounds in the rear wheel wells and the stereo sounds way better. I can still hear my Berk exhaust just fine too. One of the best mods I've done. A lot more refined.

I did the same last year and was pleased with the difference. I used RAAMmat and topped everything with Ensolite foam. I ordered too much RAAMmat so I doubled up on the hatch floor and shock towers. Probably overkill but I figured I'd use up what I bought. The car sounds more solid now.
