I'm calling BULL POO on this crap paint. There wasn't even anything on the spot to be wiped off. Is it possible it's corrosion from under???

Good point. That'll be a fun fight with the dealer!

Go to two or three reputable bodyshops and then take their review to Nissan.

Good luck! I had a a guy from a body shop come over while I was at a Nissan dealership for the claim and it didn't help. The guy tested the paint depth (I think that's what it was) in front of us and stated that it could not have been a pdr mishap or a faulty respray done before I purchased it. He also pointed out other areas of defects that I hadn't even seen yet.

If you didn't buy used, you might have more of a chance at getting Nissan to respray it.

Wtf did the bird eat?! Anyhow, trying using touch up paint to cover up most of the damage. GL

Bought new.

There was nothing there to even wipe off. That's what's making me crazy.

I have also have a 13 Suzuki, made from recycled pop cans and painted with what I thought was the worst paint ever. It's neglected and covered in bird crap. Nothing like this has happened to it. If I got a $20 car wash it'd look brand new. I have a 14 charger. Same story.

Had a cube. Neglected. If you stared at it long enough the paint would fall off!!! And nothing like this happened to it.

That looks like some sort of paint stripper/solvent damage to me. It is appears to be curling.

I'm not sure if curling is a tech term I don't understand. In person it looks like battery acid must have been dripped on it. The car is never really out of my sight. I don't leave it at the mall or anywhere else. I just drive it to the wash, putt around a bit and put it back in the garage. No time and too many motorcycles so it doesn't get used much. If this came out of a bird, that birds DEAD. Couldn't have survived passing this. I can really only imagine the aluminum is corroding for some reason.

Well.. long long story short. I owned a 2006 mustang that the hood began corroding under the front lip. After much investigating, the corrosion started at the factory by metal fragments on the aluminum hood before the car was painted. Properly called oxidation, that Ford refused to acknowledge or fix. Even though there was a TSB stating the facts.. No more Ford for me. Got rid of it and never looked back. Good luck with Nissan!

Default paint issue/question

I have what looks like a shadowy gray mark on the hood of my car...it is not on the surface as i tried claybar many times with no success its definitely underneath. It sucks.

The paint on the 370 is not very durable, my friends 08 bmw that is DD city driven sees a car wash maybe 1 time every 4 months and its never seen a clay bar/wax.

The paint on his BMW is flawless. No marks under the clear or rust anywhere. A simple water and soap wash and it looks as good as new. Thats what you can expect with more expensive cars. Repeat the above scenario with the 370 and you probably would of thought a million cats running all over your car would of been a better deal.

At dealer this morning...

Service manager says "it's a paint defect. take it to our body shop and see what they want to do"

Body shop manager says "A bird did that."

I'm back to square one. Gonna fight.
