370z 6MT shift advice...
Hey guys..So I've looked around the forum and I wanted to ask what you all felt. I learned to drive stick on a 1978 Porsche 911sc targa and drove that for awhile. Now I have the 370z and love it. When I started driving it I was using the synchro rev and the shifts were silky smooth. Today I decided to turn off the synchro rev and was shocked to see how much I jerked from 1st to 2nd. But there was no jerk from 2nd to 3rd etc. So what I want to know is.. If I'm driving without the synchro rev on what should I do differently in order to get the car smooth from 1st to 2nd gear? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes rev match it even when your up shifting. And slowly take out the clutch and give it gas at the same time.

yea, if your rpms drops down when you clutch in then it's gonna jerk. srm rev matchs for you on both up and down shifts

I've been rev matching downshifts. I just don't get why my shifts from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th etc are so smooth without any rev matching or anything but 1st to 2nd is being so difficult.

You either have to shift fast, drag racer style.. Or just give it a little gas and match the revs.
This is what makes the SRM so great IMO. I haven't seen an accomplished driver complain about it yet... It handles so many things for you. Personally I only like to heel toe when I am doing aggressive driving. I usually won't go to those extremes for traffic driving etc. I will make sure it's not jerky, but this system always keeps it smooth for you. It's brilliant and will be replicated by others in the future IMO

agreed, the smoothness is amazing! But I'd still like to smooth it out more so I don't look like a retard getting back into cars that don't have SRM haha.

Thanks guys I think I realized what I was doing wrong. Because of the synchro rev I was getting lazy getting back onto the gas while shifting. But with the synchro rev off as long as I begin to rev again sooner It's fine.
