check with penfed, they do 6 year loans for 4.25% or 4.75% I think, 5 year for 3.99%. Takes $25 to become a member and the loan app process is pretty easy online. I was approved in 10 mins and had the check overnighted and got my car the next day.

Then, if you have financing taken care of outside the dealer, you walk in and tell them you will sign today if they sell you the car for invoice, have them bring you the invoice paperwork to show they are truly giving you invoice. no negotiating payment terms with them, you know what you are actually paying for the car, and penfed will give you the monthly payment estimate.

go to New Cars, Used Cars, Car Reviews and Pricing - Edmunds.com and look up the Z and price it with options and you can compare exact MSRP and exact invoice. BTW, I forgot that number above doesn't have destination fee added in, so add that to the number as well.

You just get a loan to cover what your total cost is going to be after your trades. The dealer will give you a final price, you hand them the check and pay the difference (if any), and drive away in your new Z.

It may be more difficult since your asking to borrow more than the MSRP of the car, but it is definitely worth a try since they are going to make a killing with 8.3% interest. Check with a couple of your local credit unions first, and if your credit score is 750ish you should have no problem with penfed even if the loan amount is a little higher than MSRP.

Thanks. that helps. I believe my score is not that good hence the interest. It is clear that they make a killing off the interest which is why they were so happy to move so fast. My last email with the dealer was on Monday. I told them my wife wanted a payment of $400 and they are talking $544. I told them she was willing to compromise if they would and might go up to $500. They wrote back and said no-can-do on a 35K car and would I like to look at an altima coupe? I did not respond. The hard part of this is waiting. My youngest brother, the one who worked for a dealer, says I cannot send anymore emails, don't visit, and sit tight for a month. He believes if the car is unsold in 30 days, they will contact me and make a better deal. One maybe stupid question. I bought 2 cars from this dealer over the last 3 years. Shouldn't that can't for something? I guess not. Last dumb question, I take my cars in for service and have noticed a constant turn-over in sales people. They seem to last 6 months or less and that is it. What does that indicate?

I contacted Fusz and Lee's Summit Nissan (almost across the street from where I work) and they are supposed to send me an "instant quote."

still worth talking to a local credit union and seeing if they can help you. Most credit unions are under 5% rates if you get approved...can't hurt to try.

Your brother is right though, give it a couple weeks and see if they react to losing a sale.

dealer gave you 8.3% no way its too high!

I have USAA and thought i could get a good rate thru them and i have a mid to high 700 credit score...no USAA said 6.99 was the best they can do...

so I read about PenFed in this Forum (Thanks to AK ) went online applied and was approved for 3.99%!

so basically im telling you its more than likely not your credit, its the banks being greedy and trying to recover from this financial drought we are in...

Credit Unions are your best bet, never finance thru a dealer unless they are giving you 4.99% or lower...

and you need to PM Fusz or either email him directly at lfusz3@fusz.com , let him know what your looking for and wait for his response...

While I haven't had the pleasure of doing business with Fusz, I have seen him on this site alot. If you check up on his posts you'll find that more often than not he is giving someone an honest and fair opinion, even when it comes to pricing. He has never made the "I'll match any deal comment" but I have seen him post on several guys looking for cars letting them know if he can offer better.

It's been my experience in the past that buying from an enthusiast rather than a salesman makes a HUGE difference. While he is a business man and has to make money, he also loves these cars and the community. He is going to give you a more honest opinion on what you're buying and what things you might regret not buying with the car so in the long run you end up with a car you will be happy with long term.

I found this site a little to late, I had a job making really good money in the oil business, my credit was over 750 (but I'm younger so that hurt me), I didn't know about getting proper pricing or negotiating rates. I ended up paying $42k for my 370 touring w/sport navi/etc. I think I bought everything but the mud flaps (I even got the extra carpet mat for the trunk), I got ripped on rates (9%). And in the end I love my car, but wished I was smarter in how I went about buying it.

Although it looks like you already are, learn from people here and get yourself the best car for the best money you can, it's a buyers market out there right now and you set the terms. They don't want to give you the car you're looking for at the right price, that's fine there are 30 dealerships within 4 hours drive that are dying to sell a car. Looking back I should have gotten that car cheaper and with 4% instead of 9. My final piece of advise is when you do get that car POST SOME PICS FOR US!.

Yea ,, i know the drill when it comes to dealing with spanish girls. Im spanish myself and thats why I dont date spanish girls,,, simply put its usually the case of the unstoppable object hitting the inmovable object, the end result is never good. Therefore I just do as i please and it they get bent out of shape, I say fck it atleast it isnt me whos mad. But being honest with you on this one your wife is right I wouldnt get that car just yet. What I would do is sell the RX7 Take that cash to pay down my pathfinder. Save some cash and pay down the pathfinder some more and get a 2010 Z. Simply put in this case what you want only going to cause some financial crazyness. Your better off going into the z deal with even trade, money down and a women thats a bit more content because she knows alot of cash isnt getting tied up in the long run. For you it would be a win, win situation since youll be getting a 2yr model if not 3rd depending when exactly you do this, gives you time to reassess your financial state(or if it is really the car you want).

Again, I owe you all big time. You have changed my thinking. I am already planning on talking to a credit union and my neighbor. She is a banker. She asked me why I wasn't getting a 3.9% rate. And, I went on Fusz Nissan website, they emailed me, and I emailed them my particulars. I was very clear about what the dealer here was offering, that I didn't want to waste their time or my time, and could they make the drive to St. Louis worthwhile. Boy, that would be some drive home huh?

Thanks for a great post. I have done the same as you and was probably about to do it again until I went on this forum. Boy am I lucky. The advice and interest has been top notch all the way. After the first discussion with my wife and the unwillingness of the dealer to negotiate, I was so discouraged, I was ready to abandon this whole deal. I made the mistake of driving a 370Z and now don't know how I could settle for less. I am a sportscar man, always have been, and if I settle for less, I know I will regret it. Anyway, I am going to follow the fantastic advice I have been given here. I don't know how to post pics, but let me tell you, if I am lucky enough to get this car, I am going to learn asap. What a forum!

Great post and good advice. I am winning her over slowly but surely but it takes finesse if you know what I mean. She can be stubborn beyond my imagination some times. I may go that route you suggest. I have learned that when I push a bad position, I usually regret it. So, if the local dealer doesn't come after me in a month to keep a sale, then I may wait to the late spring. A neighbor is interested in buying my Rx7 too. Again, thanks for the post.
